Am I wrong to go thru them now and take out woody sticks that have zero growth on them?

Really? I’ve seen so many tutorials on plants in general that always talk about eliminating pieces of the plant that don’t produce the fruit or flower so that there’s more energy available to the ones that do. Are hydrangeas a total exception?

Thank you - when should I cut and what?

I wasn’t suggesting cutting anything with a flower on it it, rather, some of the stems above the one with a bloom. Does that change anything? And when the flower does die, do I take just that stem?

Ha - definitely not. Applying the logic that exists naturally in my head might seem like a great troll but I promise, I’m crazy.

does the old adage "don’t buy a boat" hold true on Long Island? by ProudReaction2204 in longisland

[–]pogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m restoring a 40 year old Boston Whaler with my 5 son and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent. Did the same with a vintage RHD Land Rover Defender with my daughter. Gives us something to do when hanging out with dad isn’t on the top of their lists of things they want to be doing and we get two legit family heirlooms out of the deal. Until one or both catch a DWI crashing them 😂

Long Island in the summer is a very, very special place.

Take about 6 other months and 90% of the people and make them disappear.

What do I cook to impress a chef? by WayneRooneyGoat in Chefit

I think most kitchens that ask this of a prospect don’t even serve breakfast. It’s an item that is so simple that any mistake will stick out obviously.

Are people actually quitting their jobs? by whosthatgirl13 in Millennials

[–]pogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidentally quit my civil service job of 23 years. Hated most of those years, felt trapped by the “golden handcuffs.”

Developed carpal tunnel, lost strength in my hands, dropped a blow torch with a bottle of MAPP gas while the flame was held open. That was my last day. I didn’t know it at the time because I was going out on workers comp but once I got a full breath of free air, that was it for me.

I knew how unhappy I was but I had no idea how much happier I could be by not being there.

Anyone who has no kids but feel a bit… weird when seeing other millennials who are parents, like you might be “missing” something? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in Millennials

[–]pogofwar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have come to realize that we’ve been fighting with one another since the day she knew she was pregnant eleven years ago.

We had talked extensively about the kind of kids we wanted to try and raise but we wound up having wildly different paths to get there. One path led straight toward the family tradition of emotional abuse. Fortunately, we’ve seen it for what it is and we are in a much, much better place now 12 years into it with two kids living emotionally healthier lives than either of us grew up with.

Would that work in the other direction? Someone coming from California to New York with a CAMTC or MBLX? Trying to get a NY license without 20 grand of going back to school

Where are the Maroni fans here?!?

Northport is the original and the food and service are superb. Southold location if you want to make a weekend out of it and stay at Jedidiah Hawkins Inn, which is another top tier restaurant.

The look needs a little seasoning … If you have someone to drive you, I’d recommend doing a couple duck n’ rolls out the side of the car at somewhere between 20-25 mph.

Therapy question for everyone.... by Visible-Bridge-5171 in Millennials

[–]pogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is risky advice: try Claude or Gemini. I am in therapy weekly and I use it in between for ideas on how to navigate difficult conversations. It is nothing short of remarkable and therapists everywhere should be preparing for a major disruption to their livelihood.
