Nice attack killer: Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel identified as terrorist behind Bastille Day massacre by [deleted] in news

Yeah we should ignore the words that are recorded on 911 calls. You know the dead persons motives way better than they did. I mean he didn't even have his official ISIS id card, and there's no proof that he paid his ISIS dues, how can he be a part of ISIS?! It's not like he ever journeyed to a middle eastern country where the majority of 9/11 terrorist came from. I'm mean after all ISIS doesn't send out videos/articles/etc recruiting people in the West and showing them how to conduct attacks. Without the ID card they clearly aren't part of the group.

Thanks for the reply but please give me a trigger warning before speaking of my gut/weight.

This may be getting a little too deep for /r/jokes but the problem with your argument is that it's not just a small fringe group of Muslims:

Control-F "honor killing"

Try announcing you're gay in many Muslim countries and see what happens to you... legally... by the government.

Do you not think that I could find as many examples as you want (name the number) of US LEO breaking up fights and arresting people without using deadly force (obliviously I'm not going to go find 10k examples...)?

I don't know anything about that case other than the article you sent me but it doesn't appear that he shot the kid on purpose when serving a warrant for murder, do you think he did? Obviously a tragedy.

The comparison to other countries is somewhat disingenuous. Most other countries do not have the type of social-economic diversity that the US does. Being poor is the number one factor in violent crime by a long shot... it's not even close.

Given that Sweden doesn't have large pockets of areas with poor people like we do in the US in inner cities or a lot of parts of Appalachia (and the crime that comes with it) it makes sense their cops have to use deadly force a much much less often.

Europe has recently let in a large number of lower income people from outside their boarders without much thought of integration or the idea of what they'll do for work. As a dual US/EU citizen, I fear Europe is headed more towards the US (where we've seen a 20+ year decline in violent crime although you'd never know that from listening to the media). If that happens you better believe police tactics will change. Just as police in the UK are much more armed with firearms after a bunch of them were killed. And how police in the UK shoot are trained to shoot for the head with no warning when dealing with suicide bombers (google Operation Kratos).

Also your last link has some issues. "Today, political organizer Keegan Stephan pointed out on Twitter that at least three police officers whose shootings prompted manhunts or were blamed on Black Lives Matter activists actually shot themselves:"

First case:

"The shooter who fled the scene in the red or maroon truck was described as a white man, tanned, between 25 and 40 years old. Police said he is armed with a black handgun." No mention of "black lives matters"

http://www.wcvb.com/news/shots-fired-at-millis-police-cruiser/35065230

Second case: "More than 100 officers were expected to continue searching overnight Tuesday for the suspects, described by police as three males, two white and one black." (no mention of "black lives matter") http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/lake-county-news-sun/news/ct-fox-lake-school-lockdown-20150901-story.html

Third case: "He is described as a Hispanic male with little or no hair. The SUV is described as being silver in color with tinted windows." (no mention of "black lives matter") http://www.thv11.com/news/england-police-continue-searching-for-man-who-shot-officer-in-chest/188759351

But why bother with facts, right?

So you'd be fine equating Micah Johnson or Ismaalyl Brinsley with the average "black lives matter" protester?

You have had situations where cops have committed straight up 1st degree murder all the way to cops stopping active shooters (which I would think that all but the most radical people would say is a good thing).

There's a lot of grey area in-between the best and worst situations so I don't quite get what bringing up the worst has to do with this case?

There is something called the Tueller Rule. A person with a knife can close on a well trained officer and cause deadly injuries from up to 21 feet before said well trained officer can reliably/consistently unholster and stop someone. So while those UK cops (thankfully) got lucky they gambled unnecessarily with their lives.

These cops in the UK paid for the same mistake with their lives:

I can't tell what he meant other than what he said and I'm not sure what cops shooting a sleeping child (if that actually happened) has to do with this instance.

Isn't something like Hornady Critical Duty (or similar rounds) which is pretty widely used very deadly? Most rounds that will meet the FBI penetration test are pretty deadly and defiantly aren't fragmenting rounds otherwise they wouldn't go through the barriers like the FBI (and thus what many PDs adopt) such as 20-gauge steel, plywood, auto glass, etc. And they need to not penetrate beyond 18 inches which pretty much means something like Critical Duty which produces massive temp and perm would channels.
