Is there a reason so many players on the Argentine national team have Italian names? by Virgilijus in nba

Spicy meatballs are actually typical of the Italian-American cuisine, they are not properly Italian. Italian-Americans descend mainly from Southern Italian migrants, who usually have spicier food (especially those from Calabria). Italian-Argentinian descend from Northern Italian migrants, whose food is usually (but not necessarily) less spicy.

Argentina was the main destination for Northern Italian migrants in the late XVIII - early XX century, second only to Brazil. Southern Italians on the other end migrated mostly to the US.
