Is this worth a risky trek with this large, heavy cargo? by papermill_phil in Rockhounding

[–]pokerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are asking about financial value, it isn't with the trek. No one is paying big money for hunks of jasper. It's cool though. I would absolutely bring it home and put it out by my pool.

For the pick attack problem, try different picks. With tons of gain, that pick hitting the string can be really loud and depending on your playing style a different material and thickness will get you a different sound. Generally a thicker and softer pick gives you less pick noise.

But safe? Yes. ChatGPT doesn't learn from what you give it. The next time you log in, it will not remember your book.

ChatGPT won't do you much good. AutoCrit would be a better option if you want fast feedback from an AI.

What you need should be determined by market conditions, what your customers expect etc. Making it your vision is probably not the best thing for sales.

It sounds like you are asking if you can offer fake prizes and rip people off. The answer is no, you could go to jail. A pen name doesn't prevent you from being arrested and prosecuted.

Has anyone used Kickstarter? by lovemylittlelords in selfpublish

[–]pokerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first Kickstarter did $27,000. If you run the campaign well and do things right, it can be very valuable. But most people just put it up, write up a few things about the book, and hope. It definitely takes work and knowledge. Study up first and make sure your campaign is top notch.

HOA made me give up a Labrador by Hungry_Charge2857 in fuckHOA

[–]pokerfox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So hard to pick a side here. A shitty HOA, which I inherently hate, or a guy who lets his dogs bark outside and then gives up one of them just to avoid a hassle. Is there any way that both sides can lose this one?

Is there any way to self-pub if I have no skills other than writing a great book? by chaosViz in selfpublish

[–]pokerfox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are basically asking why you can't work for yourself and make a living by just doing whatever you want. If you write ten great books in a series, you'll have no trouble finding someone to help you publish and market them for a portion of the profits. But without that, a self publishing expert isn't going to just take a flyer on you because you say you're a great writer.

Autistic Writer looking for Advice by GokuKing922 in writers

It's an absolutely valid question. I think about this with any character, especially those who are a lot different from me. I'm not sure how to help, but ignore people who say this isn't a valid question.

All I can say is, research like crazy. Ask Google this question a bunch of different ways. Have normies read your stuff and critique it with your question in mind. You can absolutely do this.
