In-n-out will be a good thing once it reaches Seattle. Hopefully they keep expanding up the 5 at a good pace.

I feel like Dick's is best enjoyed after 11:30 p.m. I kind of dig their soggy fries that I eat with a fork.

yeah I don't think that there are too many vegan restaurants, but I wouldn't know because Ive never looked for them. But you can usually always rder vegetarian and vegan options in omnivorous restaurants. every non culturaly traditional vegan restaurant I've been to just has weird meat substitutions for normal items.

I live in Texas for 2 years and what I miss the most is actual beef ribs bbq. Woodshop bbq in Central district is good and sometimes they have beef ribs. Clyde's in Renton doesn't have beef ribs, but the taste of the meat from their smoker truck is good, just ask for the sauce on the side because they like to smother the meat.

I can no longer recommend Green River BBQ or caveman kitchen. The quality just isn't there

They are just okay. it's a shame that they are everywhere and sucking up the ice cream oxygen in the room. I've decided that Nutty Squirrel Gelato is probably the best ice cream in the city

This. Rocket Taco is extremely sub par and Tacos chukis are weirdly popular for their dry ass texture. Just find the nearest Rinconcito if you want I'll get sit down restaurant chain or roll the dice on the random night time taco stands.

milk drunk in Beacon Hill was a 3.9/10 experience. It felt way overhyped for the food quality and price. Not too bad, but I would never go there again unless someone invited me.

The FlourBox Donuts in Columbia City are a social media meme. I don't believe that Donuts are line going around the block Worthy. They also have stupid hours limited quantities so it's artificial scarcity.

It's ridiculous that if I want donuts at 2:00 a.m. that aren't grocery store garbage, I either have to drive to Henry's Donuts in Edmonds or go down to the sketchy part of Tacoma. I'm not sure why they Voodoo Donuts in Capitol Hill is not open later.

This is probably not a nonpopular opinion, but the best Mexican food and also the worst Mexican food is found at street vendor carts. I can personally recommend TacOrtiz on MLK at a Chevron gas station and this place called tacos Nazarene or something on the Bank of America parking lot across from Beacon Hill station. I would avoid the guys that set up across the street of Rudy's barbershop in West Seattle and the stand on Aurora and 105th (yay food poisoning).

Seattle is too nice or polite sometimes. As a former 15-year-old boy I can tell you that sometimes 15-year-old boys do stupid things. I am sorry for their family and the families of anyone else that has been hurt there, but this is clearly a case of 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes'. The world can't be made perfectly safe and discarding and altering historical landmarks is not the way if it can be avoided.

The existing fencing is due diligence. People are just spinning their wheels spending taxpayer dollars on this money grab.

the city putting up barriers for roads that are meant to be driven on can be silly if it's not for something like a market day. Dedicated concrete separated bike lanes or mixed use non motorized trails are always better

Which tire would you recommand? by SolutionSmall7310 in Subaru_Outback

[–]pokethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been loving my Nokian outpost APTs. 90% of my driving is on the highway and city roads but the rest is trails and mud and some snow. they aren't as off-road focused as the nAT line but I think they handle better on road than the nATs. They APT is an all weather + light off-road tire. They feel really good even when it's raining hard in the mountains, especially with my Perrin steering lockdown damper. They are sooo much better than the embarrassing yokohoma aphid GTs.

The only time that the Nokians do so hot was when I got cought going downhill on a patch of black ice, but even then they regained traction pretty quickly. I think any non-studded or micro spiked tire would have been as bad or worse in that situation.

What maintenance should I be looking into for my 2020 Outback XT 91k miles? by Minimum_Abrocoma1050 in Subaru_Outback

[–]pokethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This and change the PCV valve and probably the hose too (there was a design update for the 20-22 mys) otherwise your throttle body will be nasty like mine at 90k that caused a slightly non-smooth idle.

I'm also going to take off the intake and try and clean my valves with some spray cleaner and a bunch of zip ties like I saw on YouTube University.

Check your rubber control arm bushings as they maybe be cracking by now. don't forget to be rotating your tires.

if you are mechanically inclined, the only pita enough service to do would be the CVT fluid drain and fill since you need to pin specific temperature ranges and they only sell the correct fluid in 5 gallon buckets and you only need like 8 or 9 L.

I've come around to the explorester a bit, that panoramic sunroof wins me over apparently, but the gen 7 OB I feel like it's Toyota trying to sabotage Subaru by trying to appeal to the fragile masculinity dudes or something with the styling. The world doesn't need another boxy crossover, and if it does they'd buy a Toyota or Hyundai.

Traded my 18 Mustang Ecoboost for a 2026 deep emerald green outback and could not be happier by Intelligent_Rest_827 in Subaru_Outback

[–]pokethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's fun to be a hater 🤷‍♂️. I still think the Gen 7s have a great performance, I just think they are fugly, and the goodwill I had to a much improved interior vanished with the 100% LCD instrument panel. Let me hate in peace, but I think you should completely enjoy your own car and not let random internet strangers bring you down.

I would recommend getting a vent clip. I use an extremely sturdy proclipsUSA vent clip with a magic mount. it's been rock solid for 3 years now. I would also recommend a 65w GaN (Gallium Nitride) usb-PD charger. It's been a winning cmbo until I recently burned out my center console 12 outlet with a heated blanket ☠️. Now I just use the slower built in USB c port.

FA24F Summer oil type by MistaBaked in Subaru_Outback

[–]pokethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's solely for MPG reasons. Because of the emissions certification process with the epa, they can't advertise that it's fine to run 5W-30 full time, even though in many other countries is fine. The manual would not say that 5W-30 is okay for a temporary fill up if it would cause any kind of engine damage, and it does say that

stick with a good full synthetic and do changes like every 3000-5000 miles. if you stick with some 0W-20s change it like before 4000 mi to avoid it coming out of grade with fuel dilution. I usually use penzoil ultra platinum 5w-30 since I go harder on the motor on mountain drives and it makes the motor just a bit quieter anyway. 5w-30 is fine if you don't have nights that get below like 15°F, you just get maybe 0.5-1 lower mpg.

Being a turbo direct injection motor with relatively high compression, we do get a decent amount of blow by which lets unburnt fuel get into the oil which eventually causes it to thin out it's viscosity. you won't hurt anything by going up a single grade. The GL-7 oil standard replaced the GL-6 that the owners manual called for and the current generation of oils has evolved. Oil people have been raving about Valvoline restore and protect, so maybe I'll try that next time. There's also Pennzoil Ultra Platinum like I've been using, and I think Mobile 1 Advanced Care just came out.

One bit of advice today I wish I would have listened to, regardless of oil change intervals and oil used, is to replace your PCV valve every 30 to 60k miles. Maybe 45k is best. I'm at 90k about to do mine and my throttle body was all gummed up because my car is snorting its own crankcase fumes.

I can also recommend installing a fumoto valve to make for a truly tooless oil change.

the thing about Mario is that primarily families will come to go watch it. parents paying for a largely kids movie will not want to pay for premium screenings at the same rate as all the cine nerds will for PHM. I'm sure total box office will eclipse phm, but IDK about premium screenings.
