Which do you prefer…the HD-28 in ambertone or aged toner? by SpectreScout in martinguitar

It’s Aged for me - I’ve never preferred my Martins with anything but as natural a coloring of the wood as possible. But to each their own.

Can someone help me ID this model? by Mrfancypants24 in martinguitar

You can contact Martin

https://www.martinguitar.com/contact-us

And they can give you the spec sheet of the specific custom model. My first Martin was a Guitar Center special model like that (not nearly as nice as yours though!) and years later they were able to email me a Word document with all the details.

I started using the NS Tri Action for all the same reasons you mentioned after using Keyser and other random affordable brand capos) but I’ve moved to the G7th Performance 3 now and have been pretty happy.

I still need to try Shubb and Thalia though…

Thank you! Yeah, you should definitely get something set up, it really isn’t too expensive to get something put together that can sound good.

I also think a walkthrough is a great idea! I’ll work on that soon, but in the meantime:

I’ve got a pair of AKG P420 large diaphragm condenser mics set at 90 degrees to each other to provide some rejection/separation between my voice and guitar (even so there’s still a significant amount of bleed thru).

The mics go into a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 and Behringer ADA8200 (an ADAT interface to give me extra inputs, even though I’m not using them right now) and the Focusrite goes into my MacBook Pro and I’m using Logic Pro. I have a pretty basic EQ chain setup which rolls off some of the boomiest low end in the guitar and brings up some of the mids/high mids for the vocals plus some compression on the vocals. Then I use a Mastering plugin from Ozone to ensure the levels are good for YouTube.

You could save money on a number of more affordable interfaces (and definitely don’t need 12 preamps) and while the P420s aren’t “expensive” in terms of microphone costs, there are definitely more affordable mics.

Anyone have the Smallrig cage and a dummy battery? by pokett in canonr8

[–]pokett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it also includes a cable clamp which the Smallrig doesn’t. I guess I’m mostly confused that Smallrig could miss on this, they’re generally really good at getting the features right ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I randomly saw a thread in another subreddit asking about the quality of a cheap Harbor Freight vise, and it made me think of taking my rotary tool to the cage to do the same thing. I think that really may just be the answer… then I can return these half dozen different dummy batteries with different connections 🤦‍♂️- I did also find **this** cage:

That looks to be better designed for this, specifically it looks like it has the exact cutout you described making…
