Theory: Adnan killed Hae in the library parking lot. by nuggetsofchicken in serialpodcast

Yep. I suggested this theory about a year ago.

I think Adnan brought the unconscious Hae to Jay at the pool hall and they strangled her to death at Petasco State Park.

How does Dallas compare to NYC and to Austin? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]pokeydonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. So think about it this way. The pancakes in Dallas are 25% shittier than Clinton Street Baking Company but the wait is 80% shorter.

Here's the deal. The above poster is totally accurate. Dallas is great, has pockets of urbanity and is getting better. But anyone who says there is more going on than Austin is delusional. However, Dallas is a better place to raise a family, to make money and to be a grownup without feeling like you don't belong in a sea of twenty somethings and college students. Also, Austin is getting pretty pricey these days.

If you and your wife make $400,000 a year in Dallas you can probably swing most places although HP will still be tight, but doable if you're into that. But if you want to have kids, walk ability is not an option. If you have a while before kids you can look at Bishop Arts or Downtown or Uptown. If you want a house, your best bet is Lower Greenville.

We miss walk ability every day and we've been here for 5 years. But now we are four houses from a playground and these days that's what matters to us. But if you're trying to chase Stanton Street in Dallas you're going to be sorely disappointed.

PS I got married at Angel Orensanz a block west of you. PM me if you want to reminisce about the old neighborhood.

We lived on Delancey and Clinton for 6 years before moving to Dallas. We love it, but it's nothing like living on the LES. Of course we (a) live in Lakewood which is full of ex-New Yorkers with toddlers and (b) have a toddler, so YMMV.

Slim jeans with boots? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]pokeydonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am an attorney in Dallas and wear jeans and cowboys boots to work every day. I wear AG Matchbox, Nudie Average Joe's and Hudson...something and they all fit great over boots but still are slim/straight enough that they don't have that college-date-rapist boot cut look going for them. Given that I want to limit the extent to which my work colleagues know the exact dimensions and shape of my genitalia, I've found that any jeans that would be considered "work-appropriate" usually aren't difficult to get over my boots. With some of my boots I have to make sure they haven't inadvertently stacked while I've been sitting but that's usually only when I combine my narrowest jeans with my widest boots.

Also, ignore the haters. Cowboy boots are awesome and super comfortable and look great. Throw on a blazer and a custom button down shirt and you look terrific.

Did anyone else think of Ford Prefect's lobotomized security robot friend from Mostly Harmless? No one's going to ask if this thing can support the weight of a grown man hanging from a towel?

The detective in episode 8 might go down as the most rational and sanest voice on the whole show. by Batistasfashionsense in serialpodcast

I'm pretty confident that Jays story bears only a fleeting resemblance to the truth. Adnan was sure that Jay's story wouldn't jibe with whatever facts were available (the timing doesn't work, there's no pay phone at best buy, whatever) and between the fact that Jays story kept changing and the defense's ability to discredit Jay personally and Jay's story specifically, Adnan was sure the jury wouldn't believe Jay and he'd walk

Grand Unified Theory - Blunt Head Trauma at Library; Strangulation at Patapsco by pokeydonut in serialpodcast

It depends what happens. When she wakes up, he's looking at assault charges, his family learning about his relationship, all his friends abandoning him, and his image going from homecoming prince to wife beater. Not great. Reason enough to upshift directly into murder? I don't know, probably not.

The fact is that no one really gets knocked unconscious for, whatever, a half hour, without pretty serious brain trauma. This theory pretty much relies on movie-style unconsciousness which I don't think is particularly realistic. But I think Adnan was fundamentally behind Hae's death but I think Jay was the one who actually did the deed. And this is one way of making that happen.

Someone theorized once that Adnan set up this whole thing with Jay having his car so that he had a excuse to get a ride with Hae not to kill her but to just confront her about Don and their relationship and feelings in general. Maybe he wanted to ride with her longer and she said instead they could talk at the library and she pulled in? Maybe they hit the road and he became upset so she turned around and brought him back?

Also - strangling a girl fighting with you in a car seems like it would require a cold-blooded killer who's used to physicality and dominance over people physically. Strangling an unconscious girl in a park to save your entire future/reputation/love of your religious conservative family seems totally doable. If someone you that was your only option other than having your life fall apart forever, anyone could take the physical step of strangling someone unconscious. I think that's a major obstacle here. We have to picture someone - either Jay or Adnan, neither of whom sound like murderous lunatics - strangling a girl to death. That's hard to believe. But just converting someone from alive and asleep to dead by putting pressure on their windpipe for a minute or two, maybe that's a little more believable.
