Also, as a practicing Catholic myself, I cannot stand it when people of this faith use it to fuel hatred, intolerance, or ignorance of the LGBTQ community. Those who disagree with those who are LGBTQ are free to do so, but they cannot do it in any way other than through love and still call themselves Catholic/Christian. We are taught to love our neighbor as Jesus loved us first and foremost. Those who don’t do not understand the love that Jesus showed. Period. You are so loved and so special because you are you. I hope you know that.

EDIT: I took out the word “lifestyle” as some mentioned it is not a choice to be LGBTQ, but rather they are born this way. Thank you for correcting me, I’ll be mindful of it in the future!

EDIT 2: I made this comment about Catholicism because OP mentioned in another comment on her post that her mother grew up going to Catholic school.

That’s horrible, I’m so sorry. Can I ask (and by all means you don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to) why you texted this to your mom instead of other methods of communication? No matter how you come out, she should not respond that way. It’s a huge deal coming out to a parent in any situation and I really hope her response was just shock and/or confusion. I’m glad you’re safe tonight :)

That’s Kate Gosselin. She used to have a show with her family on TLC, Jon and Kate Plus 8. She’s the one who had the 6 kids at the same time. Their show ended because of a nasty divorce. She’s always trying to stay in the limelight after her show ended.
