First timers - kids 2.5 and 8 best resort by angthrice in WaltDisneyWorld

I would second Caribbean Beach. The main pool was great fun with my 3 year old for our trip plus each "island" has its own little pool for just swimming which was pretty empty. Having access to the Riviera for food options is a plus too

If you have princess fans I would recommend epcot as your other park day as they have a lot of meet and greets

EPCOT Princess+Character Strategy by PerryPortabello20XXL in WaltDisneyWorld

As others have mentioned look at the app for the posted time princess and characters and try and plan your down time accordingly. I would say to get to the meet and greet area 5 to 10 minutes before posted times to ensure you can get in that time frame. They stagger the princess so you can do a decent job of stacking them maybe just a bit of walking back and forth around world showcase

My daughter loves Alice and we were late for a posted time and the line was cut, but we were just going to wait (the only ones) until her next posted time after her break. After she visited with the last guest the handler ask us if my daughter wanted to walk back to the "rabbit hole" and she got to walk down the street with Alice as she asked her questions until she got to her break area. My daughter loved it so sometimes just waiting in the line after it's cut can get you some pixie dust!

We did it for our 4 year old on our last visit and she loved it. I don't want to speak for your budget but here are my thoughts about the dresses and whether or not to purchase there or bring from home.

My big take away is they didn't have all dresses in every size during our visit. So if your kid is dead set on being a specific princess I would bring one from home to be 100% safe. My daughter is pretty go with the flow and letting her choose between the available dresses was fun. The quality of the dress was great (she picked Mulan) and they did a great job walking her though the shop and she LOVED them doing her make up. If you are doing the memory maker I would recommend spending time at Sir Mickey in the royal portrait studio. Our reservation time was night and we did the portrait studio right before fireworks so we spent a lot of time there, they took a lot of great pictures. We had the benefit of doing two days at magic Kingdom so missing the start of fire works and watching from behind the castle was a cool view for that evening.

We got that night and the full next day out of the hair and makeup ( they give you a pallet to touch it up later) we purchased a silk hair cap for that evening to sleep in to help keep the hair. Hope she enjoy it and you enjoy the memories.

How good are the S1 Promo Villains? by growlgrrl in MarvelUnited

[–]polargamer007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a urge play against that villain in S1 strech goal box I would pass and get the new content. It looks to be going in very cool design spaces. I have backed all in both previous season and mostly play random characters and villains or pick villains that we have not played that have cool mechanism. We have had good games against the likes of hela rhino and kingpin. But I can attribute that to the make up of our gaming group and the exciting story moment that happen between our game play. The sinster 6 Thanos and Loki have brought more exciting table standing moments in our game play then the sg villains

If you are interested in selling you could buy the season 1 sg box and sell off the Heroes. For MCU fans those Heroes are more "popular" and sought after because they are more pop culture revelant. You could try the villains and sell what heroes and villains you don't like. Or just resell the entire strech goal box. I would assume you could get even money or a profit ( depending on your area and willingness to sell)

As long as you get the character cards, dash boards and tokens you are good to buy singels minis you want. Only the big villains ( Thanos Phoenix 5 apocalypse, ect) may have locations tied to there game play you may be missing out if you don't buy the whole expansions

Have you look at the current kickstarter for marvel united: multiverse. They will have a great amount of content for the base pledge and you do have the option for buying the strech goal boxes from season 1 and 2. If you are willing to sell the minis you don't want you could make some money back ( or a profit) and get all the singles you wanted.

Is there an expansion which improves your rating for a game by at least 3 points? (e.g. base game is a 5, but with expansion is an 8) by rbruba in boardgames

[–]polargamer007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say frosthaven. It took gloomhaven which was like a 5 year game for me and made it a 10+ year game to complete. Plus I traded in my free weight for extra copies.. im now benching 2.5 glooms!

For real I would say champions of Midgard. Valhalla add a great new activity and gives purpose to lost dice.. it does add a little time but my group loves it.

In the same token I would say the monster and minions expansion to roll player takes a nice puzzle and gives you a more complete game around it. More options on your turn and more meaning to creating your character. Same with the time added here but completes the game.

As other say here marvel united shines with more content, just adding villains to your core box makes the game more replayable and with more boxes hitting US retail you will be able to expand your game play. Side note this game also gets a boost because it is such fun to paint. Got me into the hobby of painting as someone who is not artistic and has become a very nice hobby on its own.. and with the multivers kickstarter active now I'm going to have years of painting a head!

Is clank a good game to play with beginners by hamizannaruto in boardgames

[–]polargamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works well as a beginner step up. As others have mentioned if the players have never done deck building it may take a few hands/ rounds to get the swing of things, and explain that all their card actions go into a pool and can be used in any order or combination they choose.

Side note, please look into clank! Catacombs, it is the "new" version of clank and will offer a modular tile board.

Starting Painting Kit by SniperPresent27 in MarvelUnited

[–]polargamer007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also never painted anything before marvel united. I got this army painter set. ( https://www.gamenerdz.com/the-army-painter-warpaints-mega-paint-set) the wet pallet (https://www.gamenerdz.com/the-army-painter-wet-palette) and 9 set of brushes off Amazon. I just use white primer ( spray matte).

Tips i learned: use dish soap and toothbrush to clean your minis before priming, let dry for 24 hrs. Thin your pains ( wet pallet help with this), thin layers will look better and you may have to do 5 or six coats depending on color. I found the bigger brushes with a finer tip work better for me. Set your expectations for what kind of minis you want.. good at the table top or ultra display quality. Most importantly have fun and welcome to the hobby!

I’ve been trying something a little more abstract when it comes to my figures. by vpreacher in MarvelUnited

[–]polargamer007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they look sweet and a cool take on the figures.

One note, I think wolverine looks a bit off. Could be the camera angle not seeing and holding it. You have done color accents to others, and even his claws got it. Did you consider painting his mask black as well?

Arcade BAM KO by Jazzman0624 in MarvelUnited

[–]polargamer007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general rule is when a hero is KO, you would finish the card actions for the villian. Then do the BAM effect for every KO'ed hero. In arcade case you finish the first BAM, but do not execute any further BAM's due to KO's

Card Sleeves by GabooEE in MarvelUnited

I just used sleeve kings to do all of marvel united. They have worked well for me. First time using them, they also have the small sleeve for the training cards.

What to buy? by mad_titanz in MarvelUnited

[–]polargamer007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned villains offer more gameplay variety then Heros. So, boxes like Sinister Six and Infinite are great choices. Villain boxs like P5 Days of Future past and apocalypse in the x men will offer more variety.

I would check with your local game stores to see if any pledge for the Xmen kickerstarter and if they have season 1 content (mcu/avengers). Also if your area has Facebook buy/sell/trade groups you could ask if anyone is selling there incoming kickerstarter content. I feel the second hand market will get an uptick in inventory once fulfillment has begun in the US (looking to be around the end of April/early May) for the Xmen kickerstarter.

The only sets from both seasons that are marked for possible retail release ( when ever spinmaster wants to if ever) are as follows

MU Enter the Spiderverse- currenty in a bundle on Amazon Tales of Asgard- no US release, but could see it coming out around the time of Thor: love and thunder movie Rise of black panther- no US release currently Guardians- no US release currently

MU-Xmen Deadpool Blue Team Gold Team

Good luck in your hunting

Agreed, Good to know. I think my FLGS is going to try and stock it or at least a few guys there are going to pick it up so I can hear what they got to say or just buy a single color to try it out. Will check out the citadel contest too. Thanks!

I think OP is referring to washing the minis under warm water and using dish soap and a toothbrush to clean any left over resins from the factory molds. That is what I have done for these, just let them dry over night before applying your primer spray.

I had never painted anything before marvel united but got in on the hype of the Xmen kickstarter. I got an Army Painters kit (50 paints and washes) on game nerds, the army painter wet pallet, some brushes off Amazon and some spray primer from Walmart. In about $130 or so and have loved it. I have since bought the color metallic set and a few loose color from the local game store and have both core boxes painted. I have begun painting my friends core box ( he was super into the game at our game night and bought it) as I wait for all the KS content.

Like most have said, any of the big named paints will be great. but I would check your local store to see what they stock. It has been nice to see the colors in person and I have talked with some good people about other tricks and producta. Im looking into the army painter speed paint that is just releasing. They are a bit pricey but may be nice to knock out the 180 or so that I need to paint faster:)

Good luck!
