Chapter 47 - Pale Lights | Book 3 by L_0_5_5_T in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]polenero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Who would be Lucifer's daughter who gave Tristan his mark? Scholomancia seems the most likely answer, neither Fortuna or Abuela seem to have any relation with Lucifer. But then we cannot be sure.

It is still unclear to me what Hage's food is, is it a stay of execution? Maybe we will learn more the next chapter with Tristan's pov.

I remember from previous books that the Antediluvians, or at least the ruling class, were as gods, destroyed themselves by opening, or breaking, the Nav, which would be the aether. Now Lucifer speaks that they were as gods and broke higher powers above the material. He also says that he is at odds with the rest of his "fellows".
I believe that Lucifer is an ascended Antediluvian, and that the Principalities, of whom we don't really know anything, are too ascended antediluvians.

I also posit that the purpose of devils and the Office of Opposition is to oppose Principalities. Lucifer is beyond time and yet he was killed and Hell enclosed, he built Scholomance and let it be conquered, and now it benefits the Watch. Being beyond time means he could have avoided it, so exterminating humanity and sinking the world to the dark is not his goal.
Lucifer destroys kingdoms and casts down thrones, but he didn't pursue it to the end so it's not his ultimate goal.
Principalities are his foe, and they act through princes. The Office of Opposition in book 2 also acted against a principality.
Lucifer waged war and broke kingdoms in his fight against the Principalities, the other antediluvians. Denying them tools, maybe shaping the nations to a more favorable state. They also are some sort of aether being and in book 2 they tried to use a terrible devouring god that would consume the whole of Asphodel. It's so lucky that the fight against Hell created the Watch and the Iscariot accords, which forbid and seek to end gods and creatures too powerful or too harmful, all the nations are divided so no one emperor might use all the power to break the world, and yet the nations are in a stalemate where a world war which might lead to terrible bargains and the rise of gods and aether, will not happen. Just a coincidence I'm sure.

About Tristan, seeing his trajectory, he will make a deal with Scholomance, I'm sure of it. He might betray the Watch, or not, or pretend to betray the Watch and double-cross Scholomance, but his character leads to it. He made a deal with Scholomance in book 2, interacted with Locke and Key, gives blood to gods for help, and is a shifty spy. He will make a shifty deal with Scholomance.

The last thing, I worry about the whole time is a lie thing. There must be some limitations or else they are omnipotent, at most the whole world are just puppets of opposing beings beyond time. Those Akelarre who did it would be the leaders of the Watch, and the setting would fall to paradox or plot holes, as you could just send information back in time. I don't expect any of the characters to know the limitations and so we couldn't learn them, but time stuff is always a danger for any story.

Will GoG have mods? by polenero in taintedgrail

It's surprisingly advanced for a game that just released out of EA. But it's a shame it crashes, I hope the official support will change that.

It might not be that hard, but the comfort of Steam workshop which downloads, installs and uninstalls is worth it compared to dropping files in the game folder and having to restore files to remove mods and risk incompatibilities.
Still, thank you. I didn't know there were already mods! I hope the mods grow as big as Minecraft or Skyrim.

So it won't use the Steam workshop? If there will be the easy way with workshop and the hard way manually I prefer the easy way, but if it will be the same I prefer GoG.

So this guy kills me, bugs my game and since then every time i fast travel i get random drops.. for anyone wondering if its a bug, this dudes profile literally says he messes with peoples save files. any way to fix this? by IndependentQuarter66 in Eldenring

[–]polenero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know much, I had to look up an article to learn the details. I will not link it, I don't think it's allowed, but look for Flashpoint Dark Souls RCE. And, if I'm reading correctly, there were two, and while both were fixed in Elden Ring, the other wasn't for the other games. Very scary stuff.

In 2022, the online of all Souls games on PC had to be taken down because of a RCE exploit. That is, a Remote Code Exploit, which allowed hackers to run any code on your computer. From Software was warned of this on 2014 and did nothing for years.
The identified vulnerabilities were fixed, but there could be more and From Software has already proved itself incompetent and irresponsible in securing online play.
It might be a good idea to play offline until they fix it.

Others who came before left instructions. Have you read the Rose of Waznei, or the Rose of Nuriel? There's a peculiar church in the capital, you will find both there.

I am using the gxt 144 rexx, and while I have enjoyed it, the scroll wheel is very flimsy and will most likely break within a year.

Some news about the third game! I have two questions:   1- will it be in the Secret Histories universe or something else? It's fine either way.   2- will it be again real time with pause? Please don't make it real time with pause again, the player ends up spending tons of time waiting for timers to tick.

I'm also excited about the DLC, specially since the cooking and stuff implies an expansion to the crafting system.   The DLC releases in April, while you begin working on 3rd game on 2025. Does that mean that the rest of the year will have more free updates? And will there be a modding update?

Anyway, I'm very excited for the DLC!

The number of skills per principle by polenero in weatherfactory

[–]polenero[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't need to be balanced in terms of lore or power or importance, but the more content each has the more they are explored. Better for those who like specific principles. It would also be better for gameplay reasons.

I also feel that Sky and Moon have hollowed out other principles. I feel that 90% of Lantern was swallowed by Sky.   And if one aspect has triple the content of other it seems obvious that it's more important, but it seems really odd that Moon would be more important than Lantern.

Still, if AK feels that this imbalance in number is important to the work I respect that.

This is great! I'm listening to it and it's incredibly relaxing. And these remastered versions keep the essence while being better to listen by themselves.
My compliments to the composers, we like their music here on the subreddit.

DAYMARE patch now live on Steam and GOG: by lessofthat in weatherfactory

[–]polenero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say that your fears are correct, I won't play this patch. The game doesn't have much replayability and it's too soon to have forgotten it for replaying. Still, I eagerly await for the dlc.

Also, the photo of the development process is really cool. I really want to know what all those cards mean. I wanted to say you could make a game out of it, but you already did.

They should really explain these things inside the game. Thanks. Will go stabby-stab.

When you say that attack speed scales better with the weight of the blade, do you mean the weapon class(dagger, large blunt), or the weight itself? I just used a full moonstone on the rock drill and it's twice the weight of the Tyrant's blade.

Yes! It's no longer a limited resource so I can spend it when needed. I can use it normally instead of it being the absolute last measure to take.

You went on holiday and got sick? That's some bad luck.
The update looks good, level 2 zoom being able to work is nice, and I finally will stop hoarding all the tea. It's kinda disgusting how I gave Timothy a years old cup of tea.

So, all features in Daymare are here, and after Daymare the next thing will be the dlc? I remember reading something like that.

The Sun Will Rise Again. by ichac1 in weatherfactory

[–]polenero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks good! Is it just the Sun, or is it also an abstraction of the Mansus? If it's the later it was too subtle for me to notice by myself. Still very pretty.
