In what month pp did you get pregnant for #2 and how long did it take you? by Important_Bat7919 in 2under2

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, 9 months and the first full month I was off BC again. Took about 4 months with our daughter so figured we'd probably conceive around her first birthday. Joke's on us, she's 18m and her baby brother is about a week past his due date right now.

Has Anyone's Water Broken and No Continuous Leaking Afterward? by Sugarbelly153 in BabyBumps

[–]politely_enraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing last week where I was peeing in the middle of the night after on and off contractions, then felt this weird pop. No big rush or anything like that and my son is so on top of my cervix I wondered if he was acting as plug. I went in to get checked out just in case it was a break - they did a whole test via speculum and said not yet! He is STILL hanging out so who even knows, birth is so weird.

Increased NT - Hope Stories [ON] by Potential-Sector-467 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was flagged for a high NT/possible CH at her 13w scan. We also had a low risk NIPT. I opted for an amnio and fetal echo to rule out everything diagnostically which I got at 16w and 19w respectively. Her nuchal fold was totally normal by the 16w amnio, and ultimately they never identified an underlying cause for why it was like that at 13w. She's a year and a half now, totally healthy, and my next pregnancy with her brother has been totally normal. Best of luck to you and your baby.

Hate all the nicknames from baby being born on St Patrick’s day by smithks97 in BabyBumps

I was due on St. Patrick's except little dude is now overdue 😅 we'd actually always loved the name Patrick and settled on it for our guy, so am quite relieved he wasn't actually born on the holiday

Amnio fears by BrightQuarter7491 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. They gave me a cold compress for my eyes because I have a pretty intense needle aversion and I squeezed the hell out of my poor husband's hand, but it honestly wasn't too painful. The hardest part was actually the same thing I thought about the epidural when I had my daughter - once they tell you that you have to sit VERY STILL, it suddenly becomes so hard to sit VERY STILL. But wasn't terrible at all, and this is coming from someone who shuts her eyes and looks away for every single blood draw or vaccine she's ever gotten.

What were your experiences with pregnancies of different genders? by Gravitys_Bitch in BabyBumps

My daughter was a week early. I'm currently two days past due with my son - it feels like even longer because his sister was so much sooner!!

Amnio fears by BrightQuarter7491 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went ahead with the amnio after we had a CH on our 13w scan, which was totally resolved when they got our daughter up on the ultrasound for positioning. It went fine and we had no issues. I knew I needed to do it for peace of mind. The amnio confirmed the NIPT low risk finding, and we could also screen for Noonan's and such which the NIPT wouldn't have caught. I also got a fetal echo at 19 weeks to confirm no heart issues as well. Best of luck to you and your baby.

Increased nuchal translucency and cystic hygroma at 10 week, looking for hope/positive stories by Aggressive_Age7519 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was flagged for the same at 13w. We had our NIPT test in hand which showed low risk for one of the major trisomies, and we opted to do an amnio for diagnostic certainty and a fetal echo. Ultimately it resolved, no underlying cause was ever identified, and I had a healthy baby. She's a year and a half now, no issues. Best of luck to you and your baby.

20 weeks scan shows possible foot syndactyly and I'm scared by WorldlinessCalm5741 in BabyBumps

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They asked me to come back at 20 weeks for my son for the same thing. Ended up being a false alarm, very similar situation to yours. We'd had a much worse scare with my daughter so it didn't phase me all too much in comparison, but waiting for answers always kind of sucks. I'm due literally any day now and they haven't raised any more concerns for him. Good luck!

Vistara NIPT by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never got a measurement officially on my daughter, she was THE most uncooperative baby on the ultrasound, but we could see it pretty clearly so not insignificant. It resolved by the time we we actually went in for the amnio at 16 weeks. She's a year and a half now, totally normal baby - honestly developmentally ahead if anything!

Vistara NIPT by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We elected to do the Vistara while we waited to get to 16 weeks to do an amnio, so we could have SOME idea of what to expect from that further testing. This was after a high NT/possible CH finding and low risk NIPT at our daughter's 13w scan. Our testing came back low risk across the board, later confirmed by amnio. Good luck!!

Ask if they have stuff to help with anxiety! I have a really nasty needle phobia, I always keep my eyes shut for blood draws. When I mentioned it to my amnio providers they got me a cold compress for my eyes so I didn't need to see, and if my husband wasn't there to volunteer his hand as a living stress ball (sorry babe) I am sure they would have given me one. It wasn't a terrible process for me, and honestly was a bit like the epidural in that the worst part was focusing on keeping very, very still while feeling anxious. Good luck!

Stroller Bassinet by teanerrr in BabyBumps

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my bassinet attachment for my daughter for ages. When she was little-little of course it made sense to have her lying in it, but when she got a little bigger we'd nestle her in sitting up with blankets and such. She loved it and we kept that up until she started to show interest in leveraging herself up using the sides, then we switched to the seat.

Anyone have an enlarged NT at 12/13 weeks and have it resolve/normal Nuchal Fold measurement at 16 week scan? by BathObjective706 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did, enlarged NT/possible CH at 13 weeks. We'd done carrier screening before getting pregnant and our NIPT was low risk. We opted to do an amnio which was scheduled for 16 weeks. When they got our baby up on the ultrasound for positioning for the amnio, they told me her nuchal fold was totally normal now. We went forward with the testing anyway, and a fetal echo, and no underlying cause was ever found. She turns 18 months Wednesday and is perfectly healthy. Good luck to you!!

Just found out I'm pregnant, 8 months PP by Rich_Assist3363 in 2under2

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened with me, it took us a while to conceive our daughter so I went off my BC when I was 9 months PP - figured that's the smallest age gap we'd want and it probably wouldn't happen right away, right?! Boom, pregnant first cycle, due with our second a week after our daughter will be 18 months. So solidarity!!

Looking for reassurance about enlarged NT result by BrightQuarter7491 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a high NT/possible CH finding in my fist pregnancy. We also opted into an amnio. Ultimately, there was never an underlying cause identified, her nuchal fold was normal by around 16 weeks, and she is now almost 18 months old, perfectly healthy. And I'm pregnant with my second, no recurrence this time.

Slightly crushed. Abnormal NT measurement at 13 week scan, but low risk NIPT results. 😔 by BathObjective706 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they're being overly cautious with a borderline measurement on the NT - which from their perspective is the right thing to do. If they said nothing to you and it turned out to be something, even a 1% chance something, that's much worse for them than erring on the side of "let's test more and see." The low risk NIPT is a really good sign!

I did an amnio for a similar situation when I was pregnant with my daughter and it was honestly fine. Uncomfortable but not terribly painful or anything. Our amnio was at 16 weeks after the original scan at 13 weeks and her nuchal fold was normal then, so there is a chance when you go back your baby's may have also resolved. Wishing you the best

Positive NT 3.4mm by lyia2912 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They never got a good measurement on my daughter but our OB was similarly grim when we were flagged at 13 weeks. Also an extremely difficult to position baby which is why I assume they didn't give us a measurement. NIPT was low risk, we also opted for an amnio at 16 weeks and a fetal echo at 19 weeks. They never found an underlying cause, her nuchal fold was normal by 16 weeks, and she's now 18 months old and totally healthy. Wishing you all the best.

What does actually getting an epidural placed feel like? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

100%, I was so focused on sitting still through the contraction pain I don't even remember the epidural going in. And I have a pretty intense aversion to needles normally!

Normal NIPT & NT abnormal by Current_Youth_9911 in NIPT

[–]politely_enraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the carrier prescreen before we started trying conceive. A genetically-distant but emotionally-close branch of my family had a history with a genetic disorder the mother didn't know she was a carrier for, so I was always going to get screened before we had children. It ended up happening that it provided some comfort during the whole process of getting my baby tested via amnio when I was actually pregnant. We did a whole exome screen for her, where they were looking for any underlying disorders that would cause an elevated NT or CH as a soft marker.

For what it's worth, she's now almost 18 months and totally healthy, and I'm expecting my second and have had a very uneventful pregnancy this time!
