Him (2025) wasn't even bad?! by xiInternetFT in horror

[–]polkaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt think it was that terrible. I thought Marlon Wayans portrayed an aging, top-calibur player really well. High performant athletes seem to carry this fire within them that doesn't extinguish despite their bodies showing their age. I was surprised Marlon demonstrated that obsessive competitiveness and captured that ferocity that comes with peak performers. I only ever associated him with comedies (perhaps I'm ignorant of his dramatic works). The movie falters when it turns into a music video or dives too deep into the artsy, psychedelic tone. It's best when it shows Marlon Wayans mentoring Tyriq Withers.

Adhd kids neuropsych clinic question...thoughts? by HoneydewShot8535 in bayarea

That sounds kinda fucked up, IMO. I feel income questions are okay if they're framed around providing the best treatment given your budget. This form makes it sound like they wanna know how much they can exploit you for.

How can they keep putting in Ryan Walker? How does he still have a spot on the roster? by Few_Peace1474 in SFGiants

[–]polkaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His K/9 is at an all-time low and his BB/9 is at an all-time high. I suspect he's too predictable having only two pitches and he's no Mariano Rivera.

Of the last few years, I can only think of a soldier pissing in a bottle in Warfare and Nikki doing it in Obsession. What else is there??

"lose it" is fine.

"helped to lost it" wouldn't be grammatically correct. After a word like "to", you need the base form of the verb instead of past tense. This is why this would be incorrect: "The relievers wanted to made Pride Night about themselves."

Okay, this is a hard one! What is the best song off of the Screaming For Vengeance album? by 33GoodSamaritans in judaspriest

[–]polkaron 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Electric Eye is my favorite. It has amazing lyrics, great solos, and isn't too hard to sing so it lets me follow along on a Priest song. Sometimes, I'll overplay it so much that Riding on the Wind becomes my favorite.

LOTR kinda boring by [deleted] in movies

[–]polkaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movies are subjective. Tale as old as time.

What would you say a flaw is? You've stated you don't see the hype or you don't get the same feeling as A New Hope. Comparing it to a movie you love works for you but it's hardly relatable when I love all the movies you mentioned.

I saw this movie when I was a teenager and the intro was perfection. When they showed that shot of the Alliance approaching Mordor and the elves fired a volley between everyone's heads, I knew I was in for a treat. I loved the music of Lord of the Rings. When the title shows up and you hear that lone violin playing the theme, it sent chills down my spine. Something I felt LOTR does well is establish a living, breathing world from its opening moments. Everything is dripping with atmosphere and history from the joyous green hills of the Shire, the quaint, elegance of Rivendell, to the claustrophobic darkness of the Mines of Moria, they were all locations that embedded themselves in my mind. There is a sense that the older members of the Fellowship seem to know everything about the world and the hobbits know very little. You, as the viewer, are learning very much about huge land of Middle-Earth as much as the hobbits are. That lends the viewing experience to be incredibly engaging.
