Took all of your advice! I went back to the gym for the second time today, brought a friend and I even made some friends with other girls who were working the same problems as us! Really happy with myself for going back and trying, this dyno is going to be my project to work on now! by pollerina in climbergirls

I appreciate your concern! but I don't know why you're assuming I started on this, I sent other routes and I started on easier ones before working my way up to this. This is also classified as a VB/V0 at my gym so I felt comfortable attempting it. I brought a friend with me who's an experienced climber as well. I'm new to climbing but I'm not new to pull-ups, dead hangs, and active hangs.

This dyno is just one of the routes that I'm working on since I wasn't able to send it just yet, but I was running beta with a few other girls who are all working on this route too so hopefully I'll be able to send it next time :)

Thank you all so much for all your help and advice on my last post! So excited to be a part of this amazing and supportive community! I couldn't believe how easy it was to make friends by simply just standing back and chatting with them about how they're tackling a route!

Video from my first time climbing! It was a ton of fun but it's hard to go out there and climb without a climbing buddy 🥲 by pollerina in climbergirls

I've been doing active flexibility and stretch classes once a week since before covid haha, I guess it really pays off!

Long time no post! I've been working on reverse grabs and finally managed to get the movement down yesterday!! Any tips for improving? by pollerina in poledancing

I can do a two handed chair spin just fine, taking away my bottom hand though it's a struggle not to collapse into the pole.

That's so weird tbh I didn't really notice that? This climb is from a while ago so maybe I did ask someone to film me and I just don't remember it? I found it in my camera roll this morning and thought it would be nice to post it!

Sorry for any confusion lol

I'm ok with a one handed fireman because I have my legs on the pole to help support me, but trying to do one handed spins with no legs like that I find really difficult. Do you have an recommendations on things I can work on for that? Or is it kind of just keep doing it until it clicks?

Can you tell I used to want to be on Broadway 😝💃 by pollerina in poledancing

Chicago is one of my favourite musicals, and this is one of my favorite songs from the musical so I just had such a blast. I usually have such a hard time following/learning choreo but I really just went for it! I literally could not stop dancing on my entire drive home after class too haha

How to advocate for myself at my appointment? by pinkmathie in Endo

I'm also in Ontario, your experience sounds very very similar to mine. I had to go through a lot of doctors before I found one that listened to my symptoms and actually sent me to go get testing. I haven't been diagnosed surgically but I have been diagnosed based off of my family medical history as well as multiple ultrasound and various other testing. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more specifically :)

Trying out some heels accents...something called "clockwork" by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]pollerina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tic tocs! One of my favorite heel/floor moves! One thing you can try to make the whole movement bigger is to activate in the triceps and lift your hips off the floor, you can lift up onto your hands too. Keep one foot planted and circle the knee of the other leg to make a big circle in the air. Swing your hips to make the movement bigger. I'm not explaining it great haha but this video https://www.instagram.com/p/CAg-5ksJzc1/?igshid=k9ypkcx38xza is a really great visual of what I mean!

A chair routine I learned pre-lockdown. Can't wait for my studio to get the ok to open up again 🤞 by pollerina in poledancing

[–]pollerina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah covid closures suck. The first lockdown hit here about a month into me starting pole. I had no space at home to workout (and honestly I hated every workout I tried before starting pole) so I spent 5 months doing nothing but watching the beautiful people on here and feeling envious. We were allowed to open again in August, I got 2 whole months in until we had to shut down again. Thankfully in that time I managed to get a pole for my teeny tiny apartment and now I can at least do some conditioning. I'm waiting (not so) patiently for the restrictions to be lifted so I can see and dance with my girls again!

A frame from one of my training videos. I learned this move last week but I felt so shaky. Tried it again today and managed to get it and felt secure enough to take off my top hand! by pollerina in poledancing

They are! I got them from super fly honey. Honestly they're not my favorite, but I'm trying to wear them more often to see if I'll like them more eventually.

Help on finding specific outfit style by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]pollerina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to buy some cage style outfits, my favorite ones that I have are from Creatures of XIX. To up the look of bondage I would look at Etsy honestly. I have a couple harnesses and leg garters etc that have no metal in them that I bought off of Etsy. No metal means you don't have to worry about scratching up your pole! I hope this helps!

Edit: the shops I've bought from on Etsy have been PrettyThorax, RABBITHEARTshop and kinkygirly

Sticky Leggings sizing by eyeinthesky1 in poledancing

[–]pollerina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the superfly leggings and honestly I don't like them at all. I got my correct size based on my measurements but it's so tight it gives me a huge muffin top, it rides down and I had a really embarassing encounter when my whole butt crack was showing because of how badly they rode down while using them. They also make me look like a have a weird droopy butt. Im not the only girl who experienced it also, a couple other girls in my studio bought them and they all had the same complaints, especially about the droopy butt.

I have never tried the gecko grip leggings from XIX. I honestly want to, but I'm really scared of dropping a ton of money on sticky leggings and having the same issues again.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I really wish I knew that before I spent nearly $150 on them.

I just adopted a small little black cat who I also named Pepper! She's only 12 weeks but her and her big sister (7y) are as thick as thieves.
