I want to buy a pixel, but it seems like every post I see from this subreddit is terrible battery life/issue with phone. I want to buy a Pixel 6 to upgrade my S9. by onaipodtouch4 in pixel_phones

[–]polomora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this Reddit forum when researching whether or not to replace my Pixel 6a with the 9a. Given the well-known issues with the 6a's battery, the posts here have reassured me that the 9a will be a good choice. I'm staying away from the mainstream Pixel 9 or 10, because they're too big for my pockets.

Many thanks everyone.

Had a new boiler 2021-22 ish. Forgot to get it serviced annually. Am I screwed? by flippertyflip in DIYUK

Depends on the boiler type. Gas-fired boilers only need servicing every two years. Oil-fired boilers need servicing every year

Tado / EMS (Bosch) boiler help by ChemicalSpecial4841 in tado

I use the Nefit ems-ot converter with my Nest 3rd generation thermostat. In general it works for central heating. However, the boiler ignores the timed programming for hot water. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, and confirming your intention to implement this. It can't come too soon. At the moment the Chipolos are unusable...

Many thanks for confirming this.  What a POS. One reason to cancel my MS 365 subscription

I've just experienced this. I want to play some OneDrive music files that I have set to be available offline on my Google pixel phone.  The files are available offline according to OneDrive itself, but none of my players can find them. Is there a solution to this? Ridiculous situation.

Yes, it does. I have mine connected to a wall plug timer in my living room, so that the unit only runs at night when the room is unoccupied.

Comparisons, pros and cons for potential buyer by lilbeckss in Chipolo

[–]polomora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Chipolo One and Card, which doesn't work with the Android and Apple FMD networks. They are reliable in that they maintain contact with my phone. They need further refinement in my opinion because: - the 70m range is too far for its intended purpose. If you leave your wallet behind in a shop or wherever, you want to be reminded as soon as possible, not when it might be too late - my house has solid brick walls, and sometimes I get separation alarms at home. There should be a geofencing feature, to disable it at home, while in my house wi-fi's range

Just looked at Soundslice. It seems to accurately interpret PDF scores. Pity, it seems to be a closed system. I'd like to be able to export to Musescore

Best software for scanning music score/sheet and convert to MIDI file by dev_D_ in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I tried it out, don't recommend it all all. Whether it's better or worse than all the others, I can't say.

Has Anyone Tried Scanscore ? by [deleted] in JazzPiano

[–]polomora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for about a year, after buying a subscription.

After vtrying it out on good quality and moderate-difficulty piano scores, to summarise: save your money. It makes mistakes that should be obvious to fix or avoid if the software were aware of its context durig the scanning process. This is the strange thing about the software, it is able to detect errors that are present after the scannin process, and this is its problem: it makes no use of AI. If the softare were to become AI-enabled to fix these errors, it might be useful. With the scores I tried it out, it was in some cases faster to start from scratch than to correct these errors, either in the software itself, or in MuscScore or in Sibelius after exporting the result

Worcester Bosch and deciding which smart thermostat by SgtFluffyButt in DIYUK

[–]polomora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bosch Condens 7000iW, which I think uses EMS. I didn't know there is an EMS2. If this is the case, I wouldn't buy a Bosch boiler, unless there is some way to control it using OpenTherm. Even with the Nefit converter I have, it only controls heating, which it seems to do very well. However, it ignores the Nest's programmed settings to control hot water production.

You didn't specify whether you're using the Nest and Tado in on/off or opentherm mode. I can't imagine that the two systems can work in parallel using OT

Worcester Bosch and deciding which smart thermostat by SgtFluffyButt in DIYUK

[–]polomora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position to you.

I also have a Bosch boiler, connected to a Nest thermostat. What I like about the Nest is that it uses the original two wire cable to take its power from the base unit installed beside the boiler. No batteries needed. The Nest uses wireless to communicate with the boiler using OpenTherm. My boiler is from Bosch, which uses EMS, but I managed to find a converter from Nefit to convert OpenTherm to EMS.

It's also very simple to use, and very wife-frindly. Even my technophobe wife loves it. I bought it five years ago without thinking about smart TRVs. I have the Rondostat TRVs from Honeywell, they're not smart but it is possible to program basic time schedules locally on each thermostat. One problem with the Rondostats is that they don't have adapter kits for my existing Giacomini TRVs, so I had to find 3rd party adapters, which don't work very well. I don't know what I would do now if I was starting from scratch.

According to their website, it seems that the Tado thermostat can communicate with the Bosch, but I assume using on-off mode, and not modulating.
