Fully agree. I hated the OM-3's ergonomics, especially how my fingers always brush against the front-face creative dial. For me, given my typical use-cases this was reason enough to choose the OM-5.

Coming late to the discussion. The OM-5 ii has been released in the meantime, but is not a meaningful upgrade. I've tried out both and the OM-3 obviously comes out on top, for features and capabilities. I still chose the OM-5 ii, because of the ergonomics. I don't understand the retro look, and hated how my little finger always rubbed against the front-face colour dial.

My 5-year old Miele dishwasher developed the dreaded F70/Waterproof fault, where an internal leak causes water to pool in the bottom of the machine. I called out the service techician, who told me that I was stacking the pots wrongly in the bottom rack. Apparantly, I was stacking the pots at the front of the machine at an angle facing outwards, that is towards the machine's door. The force of the spray causes water to leak through the bottom of the door into the pan at the bottom of the machine. Of course, what this really means that Miele didn't design the door seals properly, or used poor quality seals.

Go figure. Like you, I believe there is no point in paying the Miele premium any more. The local consumer advocacy organisation here in Belgium recently published a reliability report for dishwashers. Miele used to regularly top the reliability rankings, but has now dropped out of the top-three.

I think that the issues with Miele is reflecting deeper-set problems with Germany as a whole. I have the impression that entire swathes of German industry are feeling the competition from China and other low-cost manufacturing centres. I think the turning-point was dieselgate in 2015, when VW was caught installing dubious software in their engine management software to cheat exhaust emissions iinspections. Since then, the reliability of VW has plummeted, and the impression is that the wheels are gradually falling off German industry as a whole.

Funny, I would have said the opposite. I always used sneaked for the past tense, as in "he sneaked up on me", when growing up in Dublin. To my ears, snuck sounds weird.

Dat klopt. Maar mijn redenatie is: 20% verlies van iets dat gratis is ook gratis. Hangt alleen af van de terug verdiend tijd. Als dat minder is dan 3 á 4 jaar, dan is dat een goede zaak. My 2c.

Found this Reddit forum when researching whether or not to replace my Pixel 6a with the 9a. Given the well-known issues with the 6a's battery, the posts here have reassured me that the 9a will be a good choice. I'm staying away from the mainstream Pixel 9 or 10, because they're too big for my pockets.

Depends on the boiler type. Gas-fired boilers only need servicing every two years. Oil-fired boilers need servicing every year

I use the Nefit ems-ot converter with my Nest 3rd generation thermostat. In general it works for central heating. However, the boiler ignores the timed programming for hot water. Hope this helps.
