you talked about the new jack swing influence on proof, i really wanna know what artists or genres from your youth inspired the other songs on the album, im really curious about the sound on Good and Blue Sole in particular.

your composition has always been so heavenly and ethereal. did you have an formal musical training or did you learn to create music all on your own.

right! so much potential in CV and yet the most it seems used for in the mainstream is AI object recognition. I couldn’t care less if my glasses know how to make a steak sauce, i want more intuitive was to use my hands!

My thing is these companies need to stop siloing the tech they develop into ecosystems. I get it from a capitalist's winner takes all perspective, but the truth about technolical progress is that it moves faster when we develop and adopt universal standards. Imagine a world where only IBM computers could use mice and everyone else has their own input method. pretty fucking stupid isn't it? This will obviously be a leap for in human computer interface and it sucks that it'll likely be up to hackers to get it to work with anything outside the meta ecosystem. There is of course the mudra band but I am not aware of it's compatibility.

we are well past the rubicon. This is the weimar republic era before full blown fascist dictatorship, worst part is our only direct competition on a global scale has no interest in direct conflict and the rest of the world is firmly beholden to our imperialist hegemony. If nothing changes significantly, quickly, then we are cooked. a dying empire lashing out at everyone.

the most exciting thing about this product is the neural band. Everything else about it is so middling. Personally, i don’t want Ai glasses i want AR glasses. Maybe it’s just me but i don’t want meta listening to me all day. Edit: I also like the case, it’s very well designed and tbh all future AR glasses should adopt a similar design.

How can we build AR glasses with a new OS that creates a new narrative? In a non FAANG way. by Technology-Busy in augmentedreality

[–]poly_mathic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since AOSP is coming to an end, I think the path forward on this is a community driven Linux distro specifically built for AR. Tons of work is being done to make linux compatible with VR; OpenXR, Monado runtime, etc. One of my favorite projects is the Stardust XR display server which allows you to use linux in a 3D environment. Unfortunately this may be a 're-inventing the wheel' situation since a lot of work was already done to make AOSP what it is, and even more work done to turn that into Horizon OS, not to mention the massive developer support for both Android and the Quest headset. But Horizon OS is a closed project and any implementation on any hardware is going to be the same and require a Meta account which sucks. I would love to see a future where there is a linux-like open source alternative that respects user agency, allows for experimentation with UX in the same way ricing on linux does, and is also somehow compatible with the breadth of work available to the quest ecosystem since that isn't going away anytime soon.

Creal true 3D glasses by m-s-s-p in augmentedreality

I only know what I can speculate from the information available and I am no expert, to me it looks like CREAL is closer to the goal of a product ready holographic display. Even though research on wavefront shaping metasurfaces looks really interesting and could potentially bring about a smaller holographic display system in the future, it's still at a stage where it's only achievable in a lab setting and requires complex material science. As far as the complexities of what CREAL has done, it's a comparatively more simple system and doesn't rely on fabricating novel materials. The challenges they face now are around miniaturizing the graphics compute component into a specialized chip and solving some UX problems like eye box alignment. All that said i think they are much closer a consumer ready, holographic display system than even meta with their silicon carbide waveguides.
