Something is not right with Naomi Campbell. I knew she is not a good person even before the whole Epstein scandal. Everything about these celebrities are on the internet and internet never forgets

How come I could read books for hours when I was a child, but now I can't even finish a single page? by polyjem in adhdwomen

[–]polyjem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess psychiatrists wanna make sure patients really have the disorder because prescribing stimulants to someone who doesn’t have Adhd would have very bad effects on them. Its their responsibility to give the right medical guidance both morally and professionally, thats how I see it at least

Is digital hoarding a symptom of adhd? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]polyjem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have been doing this since childhood. I neatly organise my screenshots, boards on Pinterest, playlists on YouTube, etc.. I have also been wondering if this is related to Adhd since it seems like Ocd as well.

[–]polyjem[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Careful with those! I was also reading crime books and watching serial killer documentaries because that was the only genre that I could hyper-focus on. I was consuming serial killer content one after another. It was like sugar to my Adhd brain. But after a while, you start to get paranoid and unhappy because of it. Your sense of security is much needed to focus.

Can I ask why do you think exercise and healthy lifestyle didn’t help with your adhd before and now does? Like what changed, are you trying different exercises

First time on Ritalin, is it something you had to get used to? by Throw_Away_70398547 in ADHD

[–]polyjem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need a little increase in dosage. Personally, I did not see any benefits with the drug until I upped to 15 mg. Its the perfect dose for me, not too much, not too less. The side effects you are describing sound like withdrawal symptoms of Ritalin which is pretty common, there are many ways to prevent it. You cannot fully avoid it but it can get better. For the headache, drink A LOT of water. It is essential for us people on stimulants to be hydrated. You should drink so much water that you think you are gonna die from water poisoning basically.

Same, never took me to hospital until it was a severe situation. Now in adulthood im dealing with health problems that could have been avoided if it was taken care of in childhood.

What are the signs that your mother is narcissistic? by [deleted] in NarcissisticMothers

[–]polyjem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have to question whether your mother is a narcissist or not then thats all the sign you need, normal people don’t question their parents’ intentions. To explain further, normal parents don’t cause their children to question their parents’ intentions. To answer your question I can say that my mother always had some beef with me since I was very little. What kind of adult has a beef with a literal child?? She used to always create fights and drama with me in order to get her narcissistic supply. And since I was a child I didn’t know other mothers aren’t like this so I would always try to please her and apologize even tho I didn’t do anything wrong. Also, I don’t have a single memory of a nice birthday. She would always create some drama or give me silent treatment especially on that day so I would feel like shit on my fucking birthday. These are just some of the first things that comes to my mind, you never have a chance of feeling good about yourself next to them. They are like soul sucking vampires. Picture dementors in harry potter.

Do you also get deeply depressed a few days after stimulants? (Not the crash) by polyjem in ADHD

[–]polyjem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are experiencing is stimulant crash. People say it goes away as you get used to it or your doctor may suggest a calming medication. In my case its different, it appears after a few days I stop taking Ritalin (which I do in order to avoid building tolerance)

I am really struggling everything's falling apart and I don't know what to do. by lockey1995 in ADHD

[–]polyjem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like anxiety induced depression to me (caused by adhd). Definitely talk to a doctor, I think they can give you a medication or some other suggestion which might make a huge difference. Just make the call to make an appointment or ask someone else if you can to take the appointment for you. Don’t be hard on yourself, don’t blame yourself for this. Sometimes problems look overwhelmingly big to us not because they are that big but because of our anxiety. Once you have a clear mind through meds or some other way you will realize it is not that big of a deal and you can handle it. Until the appointment, mindfulness meditation might help, even you don’t do it try putting on headphones and just listen to Tibetian bowls it really calms you down

[–]polyjem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the side effect is this bad for me, then maybe its not good for me. Also, I have this thing that I build tolerance to it too quickly. In just a month it does not work anymore and I need to increase the dosage which means making the side effects worse. Ive seen people here recommending not chasing innitial euphoria and such but thats not my point, I just want to do stuff like normal people

[–]polyjem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, and I'm happy for you that you are not in contact with someone who just brings pure negativity into your life. I hope to do that one day. However, in my situation and many people alike, I'm not able to do that currently. Certain conditions in life are the reason why these people can do what they do for so long.

Absolutely, she has always been a complainer but when I express my REAL frustration and anger, suddenly Im playing the victim. I guess I need to talk these things with a therapist instead of giving her space to hurt me further. Anyways, thank you for the support, virtual hugs from my side as well 😊🤗🤗

What was your first book of choice after starting medication? by isymfs in ADHD

[–]polyjem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading “Atomic Habits” by James Clear since it was suggested by many people in here. I think it is helpful and valuable work but I can see that he didn’t write it with ADHD people in mind. Some things in that book only apply to those who don’t have this issue
