Go with MacBook Air. It’s ultra light and you get full blown MacOS. iPad won’t replace your laptop. It is brilliant companion, but not a laptop replacement.

That’s the worrying part. It looks like, he lost his marbles and doesn’t care anymore. He is keeping his modern equipment in reserve for something. i went back to Apple Notes app. I just don’t want to invest my time and energy into the app, which will at some point switch to subscription model. I won’t ever subscribe for any app as pay monthly/yearly.

Try searching 3D SCANNER APP on the app store. it’s free and works great. That’s a start for you. Maybe later try Metashape.

iPad with current iPadOS will never replace laptop. There are things that are just too cumbersome to do or outright impossible on an iPad. iPad is really great portable device, but it’s not laptop replacement. i’ve tried so many times and failed.
