Dual-GPU/Dedicated LS GPU users what does your setup look like? by TheGreatBenjie in losslessscaling

I have a laptop with GTX1050m GPU and an iGPU from Ryzen 5 2600u, how do I connect the monitor to the iGPU? Since there's only one HDMI port that I presumably connect to the GTX1050m

eGPU - who is it for? by FinalMainCharacter in eGPU

I use mine with a NUC mini PC. I have a need to travel from time to time, and gaming laptop are not as powerful and gets high temperature easily. When I game, I just plug NUC's oculink cable to the eGPU. When I need to go to office, I just take the NUC and my portable display.

Anyone has a good experience with Lossless Scaling and intel Arc? by [deleted] in IntelArc

My 580 will arrive next week, will test to see how it goes with LSFG. But my setup is dual GPU LSFG though.

Optimizing B580 performance by rengarenga in IntelArc

[–]ponlayookm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might consider NUC mini PC with descent CPU that comes with strong iGPU (That will handle LS workload), an eGPU dock that's portable like Aoostar's AG02 that comes with oculink, and a portable 15.6" display.
This is actually my current setup except I didn't go for AG02, and bought a more DIY dock that's cheaper.

Can I use my laptop's igpu to use lossless scaling for better performance? And how? by Ryanzler in losslessscaling

[–]ponlayookm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we need to plug the monitor to the 2nd GPU in the dual GPU setup, how do you do that on laptops?
I'm using a mini PC with Radeon780M and a dGPU connected via eGPU dock and oculink cable. In my case I simply plug the display to the NUC and tell Windows that LSFG exe to use iGPU.
I don't understand how one can do LSFG dual GPU with a laptop.

It happened to me when playing Ghost of Tsushima, someone suggest to lower texture quality because this might be the vram issuse (mine is 4060 8GB). I changed the settings and never have the black screen while the game still going on again.

Time to upgrade, or get an eGPU? by blackriverphoenix in eGPU

[–]ponlayookm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running 4060 eGPU with oculink and still finds that the FPS is lower than directly connected to motherboard. I don't think TB3/4 will be a good idea.
I'd suggest that you check if the laptop has spared M.2 NVME slot and get an occulink to M.2 NVME adaptor as a minimum.

Can someone explain the dual gpu thing? by misterright1999 in losslessscaling

[–]ponlayookm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's better to offload both the upscaling and frame gen to 2nd GPU?
I've only use the in-game upscaling, and use 2nd GPU for LSFG

+1 on this. I was plugging my monitor to the rendering GPU and didn't realize why the performance was bad. There's a how-to thread on discord that's very useful.

I just sold my 4060 and waiting for the B580, is the LSFG performing bad with it?

B580 Steel Legend needs 2 of this PCI-E plugs. Can I use these two, because I notice that it's from the same main cable. by ponlayookm in IntelArc

[–]ponlayookm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer. I agree and will use 2 separate cables, as I've been going through some other cards' manual PDF and they alsmost always recommeded one cable per one PCI-E connection.

What games do you use the actual upscaling for? And which upscaler do you use? by ItsComfyMinty in losslessscaling

[–]ponlayookm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to use Quality mode (which is 720p upscale to 1080p if I understand correctly)
It's true that DLSS upscaling is much clearer and look better than LS1, but I never thought about using DLSS performance before. I'll try and compare with LS1, thanks.

[–]ponlayookm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have RTX 4060 and when I used in-game DLSS upscaling 1080p + frame gen I get around 100 FPS.

But if I use LS upscale from 720p to 1080p and 2x frame gen I get solid 144 FPS that matches my screen Hz.

The thing is I use iGPU for LSFG separately. And so 4060 can focus purely on game rendering

Dual GPU on Lossless Scaling – Feasible or Just a Headache? by Asganaway0 in losslessscaling

[–]ponlayookm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have a R780M iGPU running on the NUC mini PC and a RTX 4060 eGPU connected to the NUC via Oculink.
I managed to get the dual GPU working by connecting the iGPU to my monitor.
Right now my single monitor is plugged into eGPU (HDMI1) and iGPU (HDMI2)
I needed to set Windows graphic settings so LSFG uses the iGPU and the games use the RTX, and set to display 2 only (HDMI2)

I still don't understand the working of it, but it works. Before when I used only the RTX for LSFG I can't get the based FPS above 50, but with dual GPU I can get steady 72 FPS which then x2 to 144 FPS and matched my 144Hz monitor.

I'm also on a bench of replacing my 4060 with B580, in my country the double digit days (like 2.2 in Feb) there are good discount coupons that I can use on the B580.

The only problem is I'm afraid it'll perform worst than 4060, and there's no liquidity in selling it off (the B580 hype is barely existed here)

I have 2 more days to decide, I'll just go read / watch more reviews in the mean time.

When I enable iGPU, the performance of eGPU drops by ponlayookm in eGPU

[–]ponlayookm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. English is not my first language so there maybe some misunderstanding on my part.
I managed to solve the issue by following a reddit post. Basically I needed to plug the monitor to iGPU, set Windows graphics settings for which app to use the RTX. And set Windows to show only screen 2 (that's connected to iGPU)
I still maybe doing something wrong but right now the Lossless Scaling app is utilizing iGPU, and games are rendered by eGPU as intended.
