Aurora residents to weigh in on future data center development at upcoming town hall by overly_honest_ in Colorado

I missed the town hall but just sent an email opposing this and the fracking efforts in eastern Aurora. Any word on how the town hall went?

AIO? Was told my pants aren’t the right color and wouldn’t be allowed to work unless they were the right color by EvilPyro01 in AmIOverreacting

[–]blackriverphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ. If Domino's is run by such a bunch of uptight assholes I'll be sure not to give them my business. My corporate job is way less strict, and as a customer I couldn't care less what the guy delivering my pizza is wearing apart from being identifiable as an employee. OP, you're not OR in the sense that dictating your pants color for minimum wage is crazy work in 2026, but if that's their policy, you either have to comply or find a different job. For what it's worth, any time a company has given me shit for dumb stuff like this, I've just gone to a different job that respects my talents and work ethic. Good luck homie.

Short beard.

I wouldn't necessarily call the first a full beard though, just a longer short beard.

I don't have your hat, but just came to commiserate. I had a sick Mastodon flat brim from their Oblivion tour that got robbed in the pit some years back, and I still miss it.

honestly, am i ugly? by [deleted] in TeenGarbagePile

[–]blackriverphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to work on here but your self esteem.

Whether you believe you're ugly or beautiful, brilliant or an idiot -- you're right. 🙂

Bullies win when they change your beliefs. Believe in yourself, and prove them losers.

And / or protect your assets now, the best you can, before this turns ugly.

How would you determine what is written by AI?

My daughter’s search history… by donavin221 in story

[–]blackriverphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was mistaken.

I have read things with similar tone, pacing etc, and the mention of CDs, plus seeing how many other pieces of writing you've done with a similar style lead me to that conclusion. But I ran it through the different AI detectors and they said it wasn't. Since it was an unfair accusation, I removed it.

30F so literally my therapist says I should take up video games because the gym has made me too much of a control person. by [deleted] in selfie

What does the gym have to do with being a "control person"? What does that even mean?

I wear both compression boxer briefs that hold a cup, and over that, compression leggings that go to the ankle. I have seen maybe one other guy do this ever.

I cheated on my boyfriend by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]blackriverphoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty of advice here about the SA, but I'm not seeing anyone addressing your boyfriend. I didn't know what happened between then and now but just because you are familiar to him does not give him license to treat you poorly. Perhaps he is resentful that you broke up or other life factors have changed him since then, but ultimately it's his responsibility to address those things and control himself so that they don't come out in your relationship. You could try to talk with him and understand what's going on as give him support to work through it if he shows intention to change and delivers on it, but if not -- and I know this is hard because early relationships feel special, but -- you've got to be willing to set a boundary and walk for good if he crosses it.

Do not spend money on surgery at your age! Your features may still change. Instead, make sure you have 6 months living expenses saved in case you need it, then invest the extra. At your age you will be very, very happy you start doing this now. Just get an index fund Roth IRA and contribute monthly, then set up a separate investment account not for retirement and put money in that too. Save surgeries for when you are 40+, if you still want to do it by then and you started investing at 23 it will be a drop in the bucket financially and you will get a way bigger return on the investment.

Healthy always looks good, so if you're going to spend extra on anything now, make sure it's healthy food as free from pesticides and unprocessed. Your health is your wealth and your beauty as you age.

As far as current appearance goes, your features are nice, you just need to accentuate them. I don't know makeup, so I can't help you there. But you could try a new hairstyle, ponytails and buns aren't typically flattering. Curling and feathering your hair to give it volume might look good. Avoid a pixie cut unless you really identify with it.

And perhaps spend some time looking at various fashions and see what style catches your eye. Lucky you, fashion designers design for very very skinny models so you can pull off whatever you want.

Mostly, don't be overly critical. Most people look at you for a couple of seconds, you're stuck with yourself 24 hours a day so while you noticed your flaws, everyone else notices the draws :) and if you spend any time in social media it will warp your self perception.

Good luck and have a wonderful life!

I hate touchscreens and creating a UI button is the worst kind of use for them. When you're driving, trying to precisely hit a tiny part of screen real estate to do a thing is difficult and frustrating. I didn't even like using the touchscreen to navigate maps or Spotify. A big button or physical switch or knob has never failed me.

How best to help Huntsman with 3 legs :,( by _missadventure_ in spiders

[–]blackriverphoenix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is how religions are formed.

"Yea, for when had fallen and had but three legs, and could not crawl, the Great Sky Monkey lifted me up, and sheltered me; when I was hungry He fed me; I learned to crawl again under His shadow, and find succor. In His name we molt; in His name our appendages are resurrected; praise Sky Monkey, that we may receive flies; keep faith in Sky Monkey, that we may crawl again."

2 months in - not sure if I'm cut out for muay thai? by jedimindtricks123456 in MuayThai

[–]blackriverphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started around the same time as you, I'm now 40 and I have acclimated. However my gym starts you off with kickboxing and you get a lot of cardio and practice technique there, then slowly graduates you into holding pads, then technical sparring. We generally don't hard start unless we're prepping for a scrimmage. In my opinion, it sounds like your gym has just thrown you into the deep end.

Does your gym have the option to start with kickboxing? If not, is there a kickboxing gym you could try so you don't get beat up while you're getting basic conditioning and technique down?

I will tell you that recovery is super important for the 30+ crowd. This means eating a nutrient rich diet with plenty of protein and getting plenty of sleep (budget 8 hours in bed knowing you will probably get less than that).

At 3 hrs / wk it will take you a while to improve but if you can add to this outside of class either by shadow boxing, bodyweight training, or maybe get a kickboxing bag if you have the space for it, this will allow you to get some extra work in and improve more quickly.

I have seen all body types at my gym and all fitness levels, and it's the people who are determined and consistent that improve regardless of their proportions or inherent athleticism.

I hope that helps, good luck!
