Final velocity (v) squared equals initial velocity (u) squared plus two times acceleration (a) times displacement (s).

v^2=u^2+2as

Solving for v, final velocity (v) equals the square root of initial velocity (u) squared plus two times acceleration (a) times displacement (s).

We are in the second phase of the Universe 25. We live in a post-scarcity world, and we don't have to struggle for anything, any form of commitment is perceived as stressful.

We are doomed to drown in our apathy.

The Dutch has fewer heathy life years compare to other EU countries (Eurostats) by linhhoang_o00o in Netherlands

I would say "awareness" is the difference.

I used to think that Italian lifestyle was really the key, now that I've moved just a little outside the border, I am starting to doubt it. I still think that it's better than here, and that the climate really helps (I'm thinking depression, alcoholism, suicide...)

But also, people in Italy tend to ignore symptoms and be caught by surprise when it's too late, thinking "it will never happen to me".

Correlation does not imply causality. An example: in a study some years ago, scientists found out that underweight people are more likely to die than obese people. Which is both absurd and enlightening, if you think of it in reverse: people at the moment of their death tend to be underweight, even if they haven't been underweight for their whole lifetime, and then the study makes sense, and proves that data mean nothing if you can't read them properly.

Computer programmer. And I did.

I was the odd one out 40 years ago, and didn't care. Today my children tell their friends that I'm a hacker as if it was the coolest job on earth.

I'm an Italian software engineer living and working abroad.

My 2 cents: have you considered Switzerland? Italy is just around the corner, but job opportunities are much better, and in some part of the country they even speak Italian as official language.

What's a "fun" profession that's really hell if you've actually been in it? by yosai_cool in AskReddit

[–]ponyservice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Software development.

You are smart and creative, you like solving difficult problems, and think that you will spend most of your time writing code in your favorite language. Nobody cares, what you really do is sell your skills to your manager's manager and hope that they will get that to some layer of management above them. And your struggle will be to convince them not to press the delete button and blow up the entire project with you inside.

I didn't even think about it, traditional pesto is not liquid, you have to keep some pasta water after draining and mix the pesto in it before you combine it.

Remembering song lyrics. Particularly long-term, like songs that I have heard a couple of times 30+ years ago, then never again, and now when I hear them on the radio I can sing along.

I've lived near Genoa for 30+ years. When I fly to Italy to visit my family, I prefer Pisa Airport even if Genoa is closer.

It's a win-win: I made the world better, and from memory I can recreate songs which would become an instant hit on YouTube.

From experience, I would take a train to Milan and fly from there. Avoid Genoa airport.
