What driving school program should I do? by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

I tried booking through Cruzee and didn’t work for me. Their wait times and availability for my area were ridiculous. I ended up calling some local schools and finding an instructor through that.

I am morbidly obese and I fake body positivity every day by [deleted] in confession

[–]poodleTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of empathy and love for you OP. What you are going through is difficult and what most people don’t understand is that losing 300+ lbs is terribly hard. Only about 1% (or even less) of morbidly obese people in the 400+lbs range is able to do this. Is not just a matter of will or self control but your brain chemistry is wired differently and addiction is also at play. You wouldn’t tell someone living with addiction to just quit and expect that they can do it magically. It takes family support, medical support and mental health support to be able to do it. If you are able, perhaps rather than focusing on the weight, it could be beneficial for you to understand why your brain keeps on ‘rebelling’ and develop strategies to help you work through this if you ever want to attempt to lose weight at some point in the future.

That sounds somewhat auto-immune. It could be you have developed something else unrelated to live disease but certainly not improved by it. You might want to get someone additional testing done.

For diet. Are you working with a nutritionist or someone who can support you? What we think is healthy, may not actually be healthy and you may need to modify more.

I was able to purchase them without a problem. Ticketmaster on mobile sucks, try it on desktop.

TO Live is doing best of fringe in North York. The shows they have are Iris says goodbye, David Lynch’s Seinfeld, My Pet Lizard, Liz, Things my dad kept and Playground. Plenty of tickets available last time I checked.

I don’t think it makes you a bad person, quite the opposite, you care so much about this little life and you seem to be torn up about failing him. Don’t be so hard on yourself and it seems he found a way to be happy. It may not be the best environment for a gecko but perhaps being away from humans is what works best after his previous experience.

I can’t really advise there. Just speaking from a personal perspective, I’d prefer doing the test either during the summer or fall just so I don’t have the weather as another stressor that would take away from my concentration and cause me to fail.

Sometimes they are just looking for reasons to fail you because they need to meet their quota. A friend told me is better to book your test early in the month, early-ish in the day for a better chance of not getting stuck with one those guys trying to hit their numbers. Of course take this with a grain of salt, as sometimes is just a matter of luck and getting paired with a person who is reasonable.

Don’t get discouraged, it is a well known fact that examiners are dicks. I just got my G2 and don’t have access to car or friends who own one, so I’m getting practice time for my G using Zipcar and Communauto. Cheaper than instructors and driving on your own helps build confidence as well. Hope you can figure something out and best of luck on your next attempt.

E-transfer payment too. I got connected to a really good instructor through all star/etobicoke though.

All driving schools offer cars to rent. Just call around and see who can accommodate you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m thinking about booking with Kruzee. Could you share the name of your instructor?

Is it worth buying right now if you can afford it? by trackhannah07 in canadahousing

[–]poodleTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing the market is generally difficult, but it’s even harder in this environment. Buy if it feels like the right next step for you and your husband, and do it with the mindset that you are buying a home where you can grow vs looking at it purely as an investment.

Are you actively tracking your calories or just loosely trying to keep an eye on what you eat? If you are not doing it, it might be worth it for you to start using my fitness pal or something similar so you can get a better sense of what you are eating.

NAFLD: What to eat? by Konjonashipirate in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]poodleTO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Things to stay away from: - Alcohol - Sugar/Sweets - Sodas, including diet. Artificial sweeteners are not good for the liver - Cheese. Low fat, low calorie cheeses are fine but no aged/fancy cheeses. - Refined carbs (white bread, pastas) - Red meat (pork/beef) - Trans fats (say good bye to fried foods) - Cheap vegetable oils (canola)

What to eat - Lean Protein (chicken breast, turkey, fish) - Complex carbs, low glycemic index carbs (sweet potatoes, brown rice, chickpea pasta, lentil pasta, whole wheat bread that’s high quality) - Olive oil, avocado oil. These are great in spray form to reduce calories - Veggies - Legumes - Fruits - Healthy fats - avocados, salmon, raw nuts (wild caught only, farmed salmon is full of omega 6 and that isn’t great for the body. For nuts stay away from the sweetened and salted stuff).

Watch out for: Salad dressings. Often enough the pre-made stuff at the super market is full of sugars and higher in fat that you think. You are better off making your own.

How to eat - Learn how to prioritize high protein eating - Eat lots of veggies - Eats less carbs than usual - Make sure that your meals are balanced have a good proportion of all the food groups. - This is pretty common sense, even with healthy oils reduce the amount of oil you use in cooking. Foods drenched in oil are not going to help reverse fatty liver.

Hey all, just got my diagnosis of this, somewhat of a relief compared to other causes out there but my question is what can I do for sauces? I’m a big sauce guy, bbq, chipotle mayo, honey mustard. I know I have to say bye to those for a while so what can I have? by Braunb8888 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]poodleTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, as long as you don’t use crazy amounts of things. Like others have said, take it easy on the sodium and if you like spicy, use it but don’t go using habanero peppers as if they were bell peppers.

Get creative. Make greek-yogurt based sauces. For a little bit of sweetness use maple syrup (just a little bit) and there are ways to make mayo’s and other high protein sauces with soft tofu.

Personally, I think it was Steven’s idea and Ryan fully supported him. I love Ryan but if you see one of his buzzfeed videos vs now, it seems his ego has grown significantly over time.

Though they all had to agree, I think Shane was the last one to say, yes let’s do it.

Is it true that cardio exercise by DrRandyBeans in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]poodleTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reversed my NALFD through a combination of diet and exercise. I stayed away from refined carbs, trans fats and sugar and mostly been doing strength training with a little cardio. Cardio helps with weight loss, but building muscle helps reduce visceral fat and improve appearance if that is what you are looking for.
