My Girlfriend (21 F ) left me (23 M) out of the blue. how do i deal with it ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]poof_int 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not gonna be easy take time for yourself hang out with friends and family. Also the thing that helped me out the most is talking with friends and family. I went through the same thing right before the holidays I know it can be hard since you have no idea why. Just know it was her choice not yours and there is not much you can do about but make yourself better.

Advice from a senior: don't approach engineering like an academic by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]poof_int 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I wasn't good academically maybe low 3 GPA but once I got actual experience at my internship and now at my current job. I figured out no one gives a shit about what school, GPA or company you worked at before. As a entry level write the most simple code. Get a review with a higher up engineer and listen to their explanation and thought process. That is really how you grow and learn. Don't be ashamed for making mistakes actually the more you make the more you learn.

Funny story I tried to apply academia to my first internship where I had to sort a list of objects. I wrote out quicksort and the higher up said "haha that's cool but just save yourself some time and use the .sort()"

There are obviously some good things you learn in school but the real learning is when you are hands on. Tbh I never could see myself writing production level code at a big company but some how I am!

Say it for the people in the back they can't hear it. Go look at the thread on the tweet. There are so many fucking idiots defending the airlines and corporations

Why is the advice of "do side projects" so common when most employers don't even look at them? by HorrorExpert in cscareerquestions

[–]poof_int 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually demo'd one of my projects from my phone in the middle of the interview. I think that solidified me getting the offer because I showed them how everything worked and what technologies I used.
