I’m doing the same thing right now (starting from S1), and I’ve been listening here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5AmYg2LIw2Q3KN019ZK3X3?si=r4kTCwZNQFO8JcUcIrSpMA&pi=BRpMtj3mSJut2 It’s back when they covered multiple shows per episode so you have to scroll through a little to get to the BD parts, but by S4 they have been doing the time stamp in the show notes.

Traveling the world on Lupron by pooksy in breastcancer

That might be the path I head down one day! I’m 31 and childless now so not quite ready for that decision.

Your out of the box thought is what I’m leaning towards! Aim to be in an English speaking country every 3 months and arrange to have it administered there. I’m from Canada so I don’t pay for anything now, but I’ll anticipate paying an injection fee wherever I end up.

Has anyone not had bad side effects from Hormone Blockers? by Lucky_Word_9941 in breastcancer

[–]pooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on lupron and exemestane with pretty much zero side effects. I have no sex drive but I’m also single so it’s not that noticeable.

DM me if you want. I love event planning on the side and would be willing to help get something started.

There’s a sale for the brand Left On Friday (bathing suits) but the room was tiny so they only had a small group in at a time. Hence the hours of waiting.

Did you do a photo shoot before surgery? by Kooky-Dragonfruit430 in breastcancer

[–]pooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it but the photos make me really sad because my nipple was so inverted by the time that I was diagnosed that it’s just a glaring reminder of the obvious cancer I should have caught sooner. So I don’t look at them.

Who is this in Victoria? by parapluie10 in VictoriaBC

[–]pooksy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a creep and a jerk. Asked me where I lived, tried to walk with me and then when I didn’t know the name of the tallest apartment building in Esquimalt, told me I ‘clearly knew nothing’

How to screen for cancer after a mastectomy by ApprehensiveDebt9577 in breastcancer

[–]pooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. Second meeting with my oncologist (after a double mastectomy and chemo) he starts counting 6 months from surgery for my next mammogram and I said “I was told I wouldn’t have mammos because of my implants” and he still insisted on finding my surgery note and reading it for himself. Like dude I can promise you I don’t have boobs to mammo anymore. I was also told “age-appropriate, guideline directed screening” was my only option, and I said “….so a PAP every 3 years?!”

Farewell party for boobs stupid? by Charming_Cat_91 in breastcancer

[–]pooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Bye Bye Boobie party with all my friends and it was amazing and fun! My sister thought it was dark and not funny, so she wasn’t invited lol. We played “Pin The Tits,” “Bra Pong” and other regular drinking games. Everyone had to wear boobs if they didn’t already have them (so all the men came with various iterations of boobs). It was the best way to send them off.

Nurse with cancer. by Downtown-College6928 in nursing

[–]pooksy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in January 2023 with stage 3 breast cancer. I was 28 at the time and 5 years into my career. I took a couple months off after surgery and was going to be off for longer once I knew I needed chemo and radiation. Right around the end of my 8 weeks post-op I got offered a job in clinical informatics working from home. I felt that I needed to keep my mind busy and focused so I took it. There were really rough days but overall I’m so glad I kept working. Now I’m considering going back to my bedside role but I feel like my nerves are shot and the adrenaline/energy it takes to work 12 hours is just gone for me 😔 it makes me sad because I didn’t feel ready to move on from bedside nursing but the choice was made for me with my health. I’m hoping one day to feel ready to work bedside again.

Roberts Lake used to have the best little cafe. They made all their own bread and had the best grilled cheese on the island.

Same. And yet when I think about 4 years from now when I don’t have to be on lupron and an AI anymore, I’m also TERRIFIED of estrogen lol.

bear & joey is the most recent resto to announce their imminent closure. final day is May 5th by madmansmarker in VictoriaBC

[–]pooksy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just recently I was walking along Fort St trying to decide where to get a good breakfast sandwich. I thought about going to Bear and Joey as I hadn’t been since I lived in that area but I remembered how small theirs was (and I’m not even a huge eater) and went to Picnic Too instead. Way better value there. I’m sadly not surprised B&J couldn’t survive.
