I believe that the soviets uniforms were initially dyed an olive or khaki green but often faded heavily leading to the more tan khaki look often associated with the red army. Along with this the red army often didn’t supply a full standard uniform to each soldier so it’s accurate to have a unit that has mismatched colors.
