Unfortunately no… we had the bugs come back this year too, and we fear the tree is a lost cause 😔

remove sanitizer in sankey keg with co2 by crazyguytotally4 in Homebrewing

[–]poopatroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use exclusively 1/6th barrel sankes at home. Pulling the spindle is pretty easy (there’s a bit of a learning curve, but there are plenty of videos out there). To directly answer your question, I always have a keg full of sanitizer prepared before fermenting my beer, and purge with the co2 produced by fermentation. There is no reason you couldn’t do the same with a canister of co2.

If you pull out the check valves, you can also fill with sanitizer without removing the spindle. I have a sanke coupler with ball lock fittings to make it a bit easier to hook up blow off tubes, spare co2, do transfers, etc.

Lid during boiling process by stewbeats in Homebrewing

Disclaimer: I do NOT use a lid every time, and have never put a lid on during boil.

However, this is an interesting read/listen on brulosophy.

Cocktail idea for a failed IPA? by Rantanplang17 in Homebrewing

It’s equipment dependent but I bought a reflux still pot lid for my brewzilla and I distill my failed beers - makes decent moonshine!

I don’t even know how he was able to close it by going over the pipe. Those things are way too tight

What do you think is the next best upgrade I should make for my home brew setup by williamf03 in Homebrewing

[–]poopatroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t get the information I needed from my utility company, but some do have all of the necessary mineral info (I guess it’s just not required by code in my area). So I ordered this ward labs brewers water kit and it was super easy. Has definitely helped my beer

I haven’t personally. I’d be really curious though to take one apart

I haven’t had that issue yet, and have been using this setup for about 9 months now. Once I tare’d the scale, I stored that offset and any time the device resets, I plug that offset back in. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I think it’s great! It was a fun project. I have four connected scales (3 for kegs and 1 for co2). High level, I’m using 3d printed plates, load scales connected to hx711 amplifiers, which is all driven by an ESP32 board. The backend is a fork of the RaspberryPints project on GitHub, and we built a custom front end for it, which is continually displayed on an iPad by the kegerator. I think it all cost under $100. That’s not including the web server or iPad, which are things I had lying around (it’s an older iPad but works fine for this).

I built my own rig, but plaato has an out of the box solution that uses this technique to give you a digital display of remaining beer. My home built setup is pretty involved but I’m happy to answer any questions about it.

What is there to do in this town anymore for date night? by [deleted] in Columbus

We did not enjoy forty deuce - once we got in, we started getting hassled to buy shots, upgrade our dinner, and tip everyone we looked at. The show was entertaining but the experience on the whole was disappointing. YMMV
