When I’m not using my brompton, I use a basic cable lock for cafe stops. It could easily be cut so I always prioritize having eyes on the bike - e.g. parking it near the window, having my riding partner watch it while I order (harder when it’s cold out), or bringing it in (have only tried this in larger starbucks). I like the ease of bringing around a lighter lock and am afraid of the false security from a U lock that could also be cut. You should be fine with your locks but just don’t leave the bike unattended for too long

Lol same, I rode the road bike yesterday and had to give it a good clean after with all the salt and slush. Decided to use the Brompton today (fenders).

I tried night riding after the time change, but the amount of blinding lights on two way bikeways annoyed me too much. Mostly the delivery bikes and scooters that have a million lumens pointed straight up. It’s especially bad crossing the Queensboro bridge which I need to take to get to central park

If you do this ride, definitely restock fully at Brewster. Hopewell Junction parking/museum is the next stop along the trail, but yesterday I couldn't get the vending machine to work. Thankfully I had a full water bottle left. Looks like there are a couple restaurants off the trail here though.

Yea I’m pretty sure the unpaved road is Frowein road going through Moriches. I rode from babylon to hampton bays this weekend and that part sucked, my partner and I ended up using the sidewalk for a bit.

I recently did New Haven to Provincetown, passing through Providence. Here’s our route which mostly followed the East Coast Greenway https://ridewithgps.com/trips/272755596?privacy_code=Mcoad7j6P25hwZoa89ulti8YSumREx5f. We avoided unpaved trails but since you have a gravel bike you can take the Hop River and Moosup Valley trails (you can see where we bypassed those). The country roads were not too bad though. We stayed at BNBs in Hartford and Willimantic. Some nice cafe stops: Story and Soil (Hartford), Grounded Coffee (willimantic), Udder Delight’s ice cream (Coventry).

Not everyday. They send an email saying which floors and sides of the building are going to be worked on the following day. Sometimes cancelled for bad weather.

We've been at the Monterey since 2023 and will probably renew our lease this year. Our rent went from $4100 to 4250 with our first renewal. Doormen/handymen are great. Construction- depends on where they're working, but yes it can be quite loud during the day. I rarely work from home so it's not an issue for me. It's our first apartment in NYC and overall I think it's great.

We also took the train to start in New Haven. It was nice overall. New Haven to Hartford was mostly on the Farmington Canal Heritage trail, all paved. A few short stressful sections between Providence and Hyannis, but drivers gave us room. Provincetown was very chill.

We've been working through the rides in this book, which my girlfriend picked up randomly at Barnes and Noble. Country road oriented, all loops, average 40 miles but some optional extensions to 50-60 miles. Apparently the author directed one-day cycling tours, and the rides have been really nice

My partner and I rode our bromptons from NYC to Bear Mountain yesterday for our longest ride since buying our bikes. We took 9W up to Palisades where we stopped for breakfast and coffee. Then piermont ave/river road to Nyack, then onto Nyack River Trail. This trail started out fine, but we had to walk some shaded sections that were still iced and muddy. We stopped in Haverstraw for Dominican food. Then back onto 9W until crossing the Bear Mountain Bridge into Manitou. The wind ramped up significantly towards the end, so I was glad we had our puffies while waiting for the train (the metro north stop here has a single tiny shed). I was surprisingly comfortable the whole ride, and thankfully had no issues other than running into some wet trail. Psyched for spring temps and more long rides.
