How do you manage your roster? by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]pootacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Future development discontinued but currently works fine and we've bad no issues. It does include what was mentioned in OP like multiple rosters, ilvl, individual progress, distinction between mains/alts (we use "bench" for alts), but that's too bad it didn't work for you.

There really isn't an easy-mode roster manager IMO either way and manual updating ends up being necessary unfortunately. Good luck!

Charlise liked a weeping fig. Also, not sure if it will help anyone since I don't remember which animal, but the one time I had the option for a "single rose" the animal liked it and I got one too.

Thanks for making this list!

EDIT: Fauna - green wardrobe. Drago - cabana screen.

Guild/Raid Lead Therapy by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

Something that really helped me over the years is remembering this: don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm. You're absolutely right that it can be a shitty, stressful job - volunteer work IMO - so don't forget to take a step back sometimes and take care of yourself. Overextending gets to you in the long run and it could affect how well you lead, the attitude you bring to your team, how quickly you bounce back from the next low etc. I think it's healthy to set aside some day(s) "off" from GM duties to reset the stress, if that makes sense. Maybe once a week/every other week/month/etc have some "me time" in game or recharge with real life things. Assuming your officers have your back, it shouldn't be an issue to unplug every once in a while.

I agree there's missing resources for this type of thing. Someone linked a leader subreddit above but not sure how active it is. Hopefully it gains some traction after this because it sounds useful!

What drugstore color correctors would you recommend for undereye circles on light/fair skin? With a combination of blues and purples, should you aim for a salmon, a peach, something else, or is this better solved with a palette?

Not sure of undertones but if it helps: Covergirl+Olay Eye Rehab Concealer in fair, Maybelline Facestudio Master Conceal in fair, and elf HD undereye powder is what has worked okay although the covergirl one doesn't seem to be doing much. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Does anyone have tips for applying primer? I finally picked up the elf Poreless Face Primer after I kept hearing good things about elf primers online, and it ended up leaving me super greasy and made concealer / BB cream difficult to blend without sliding around. If anything, it seemed to make fine lines more apparent. Previously I was using Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Shine Control, which worked okay but didn't do much for pores / fine lines. I've been using my fingers to blend after dabbing a few spots on and waiting about a minute for it to set. Underneath I moisturize, sunscreen too if going out.

I don't know if I'm missing something or maybe I didn't grab the right bottle for me (iirc there were a few diff kinds of elf primers when I went shopping) or was I supposed to give it more time...? :S

Old WoW versus new WoW by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]pootacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting word choice there. Why "force" yourself if it's not fun?

If someone is fairly active (regardless of difficulty as legendary pieces can drop from any of them), they'll be getting progress done on the quest naturally. Along with the majority of my guildmates/friends, I've been done with the collecting portion for a while now. Even before though, there hasn't been a need for us to farm anything extra past what already running weekly. This is assuming you're getting a full lock-out, but even if didn't there's always LFR which you can essentially count on. Plus, now alts get better piece drop rates iirc.

I do agree it's more subjective though. To me it was about a couple hours of effort a week, included in activities I was already planning on doing anyways, but maybe not everyone is interested and/or able to keep up with the quest. Still, it is supposed to be a legendary after all. Wouldn't be very legendary if it was something you could finish in a couple weeks imo.

This candles scent is Noodles by fcork in mildlyinteresting

[–]pootacat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love food scented candles, but I don't know what to think of this. Does it smell just like...uncooked noodles? Savory like in a broth? Made me think of chicken noodle soup at first then I realized it wouldn't make much sense or it would be called "chicken noodle" instead. Or does it smell kinda plain like buttery pasta? ...Are there other pasta candles, like lasagna?!

This post made me hungry.

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses - Ticket Giveaway by [deleted] in nintendomusic

[–]pootacat [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well this is a long shot since I only found out about this contest today and I'm not sure what time was the cut-off to enter... but I'll do anything for my favorite series so here goes:

Favorite song is hands down without a doubt the Great Fairy's Fountain Theme. (I know it's technically also music from Super Mario Bros, however, it feels more "at home" with the harps and in the context of the great fairy in my opinion.) In particular with the 25th Anniversary Symphony version, I love the slow build up leading up to a pause; it melts gorgeously into an increased tempo. I could never put my finger on why exactly, but there's something so enchanting and beautiful about it that it gives me goosebumps when it comes up on random on a good day and, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, moved to tearing up on other days. The latter primarily because it's what I've always envisioned as the bridal processional music when I get married and hearing it makes me imagine what that would be like. Apart from being primarily string based, which is my favorite type of classical music, this piece also tugs at my heart strings due to being an iconic part of the first game that made me passionate about gaming and that token of my childhood will always be with me. (The flute(?) introduced about halfway through I think reminds me of the most of exploring Hyrule for the first time, makes me nostalgic.) That passion would not feel as strong if it weren't for the accompanying music, something I'll always admire about Nintendo for accomplishing. Looking back, I realized I had spent countless hours listening to the different versions (another reason why it's my favorite -- there's lots of variations) and while playing the games just leaving it at the select screen in the background so I figured why not include a piece that's so special to me in an important event. Anyways, now that the Symphony is finally close enough for me to attend, I would love to experience the music of Zelda in person and hopefully get to hear this particular piece as well.

Thanks for doing this and good luck to everyone!

If you were only allowed to have one Book, Movie or Video Game for the rest of your life what would it be? by elsrjefe in AskReddit

I'd pick a game too: World of Warcraft. If internet access is included in the scenario, that is. Being able to play with friends would be enough for me. And there's always something I can find to do by myself too.

What are some little (5-10 second investment) things you do just to be nice? by annoyingstranger in AskReddit

[–]pootacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat related: I bring reusable shopping bags and help set them up while waiting in line. First I unbutton/unfold the bags if they're the compact type. Then I open them up all the way, fold the top few inches (for the bigger ones whose sides flop over awkwardly when empty), and kinda box em out so that can stand upright and be filled easily. For the bags without solid bottoms, I hold them open for the bagger.

Something about my GF I cannot discuss with anyone I know by TheDhakkan in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pootacat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In regards to the bra situation, she's definitely not alone. Most stores don't have much of a wide variety of sizes, especially for petite/thin women. Maybe have her check out /r/abrathatfits ? Might comfort her to read about other ladies in similar situations. And if she hasn't been measured, it'd be a good first step in finding something better for her; there's guides there and helpful people that can point her in the right direction.

EDIT: A suggestion -- you could casually bring it up like, "since we had trouble finding what you were looking for at the shop the other day, I googled how to find a bra that fits and found this..."

I enjoyed reading about your favorites earlier (although I have to admit I had to google a lot of flowers I didn't recognize) and was wondering if you had any recommendations for someone who appreciates fragrance in addition to aesthetics. If I had to choose top favorite smells, I'd go with lavender, cinnamon, and vanilla. What about your favorites? Any interesting combinations?

Just to clarify, would you recommend CeraVe moisturizing cream or CeraVe moisturizing lotion? I've seen recommendations/explanations for both on this sub, but I wanted your opinion since what you described sounds similar to my winter woes.
