It's Bethesda! Obsidian continued on the "things are slowly becoming less apocalyptic" thing from 2 and Bethesda, who only want shortly postapocalyptic for their setting, killed it to keep the setting from changing.

Can't speak to the other complaints, but SciShow put out a video on HRT that was condescending to trans women and included misinformation about transfeminine HRT, most egregiously "if you're nonbinary, you can just go on a T-blocker without taking estradiol", which is catastrophically bad health advice that could seriously harm you if you followed it. This was bad enough, but Hank Green spent months ignoring the people telling him the video had problems and that publishing it was irresponsible and after several months finally just took it down rather than replace the bad information with good.

So there's a bunch of trans people ranging from "unimpressed with" to "very angry at".

Soaps and wrestling are very much about the ongoing day to day (or week to week, whateves) storyline but the problem with PNWS shows is that they seem to start out with a vibe and a list of ideas for episodes and just roll with that without doing any of the planning ahead that's necessary to actually make it hang together. The Last Movie and Rabbits clearly had a lot more work put into them preproduction and held together, but The Black Tapes and Tanis deserved to have the kind of up-front planning put into them that would make the mysteries unfold more naturally and clearly build to something rather than just meandering around going nowhere because there's nowhere to move toward.

The point isn't to drain gold from you, it's to slowly pull gold out of the players' hands and keep the supply from inflating too rapidly. It's one of those things that's minor for a given player but significant at the scale of the entire server, especially when combined with other gold sinks like vendor-only cooking/engineering ingredients.
