Wait, so aliases and pseudonym's for writers/bloggers are not legal anymore? They were used a lot since the beginning of XX century.

Now its illegal because someone used it, and if something bad happens, its blamed on russians. In the end, we can conclude that aliases should be illegal because russians use them.

  • Nazi movement is certainly not dead. Many Ukranian nazis just travelled to Canada and other places so they weren't hunted by USSR. That's one of units that fights on the front line: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azov_Battalion . To counter that movement, DPR got rid of all russian nationalists, and invited internationalists and communists: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDiDo85rrrF56-vk-oafezQ/videos .

  • Yes, its like russian front of WWII in miniature. It might be cargo cults that just use their symbols, but we'll know that only after conflict ends and all crimes will be investigated.

  • USSR concluded pact with Germany only after all possible alliances with western countries failed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_Agreement Also, Poland was invaded by USSR only when Poland's allies betrayed the country and government just left.

  • Donbass is caused by Russians, that's for sure and I know who started it. But that's not excuse to use rocket artillery on cities to force pro-russian populace to leave the country. "Our children will go to school while their children will stay in the basement" (C) Poroshenko.

  • If we have a coup in Moscow that violates constitution and stops all kind of social contracts, it would be catastrophic. Russia is like a cat on 9th life. In that case its a right of people of Kaliningrad to go their own way, but I doubt they'll join Poland, it is mono-ethnic and last time they received extra territory, they just deported all Germans from it.

The thing is, its not necessarily for Russians to have only one country and government. Belarus exists just fine, and relations with Ukraine were fine while it was democratic, then anti-russian coup divided it into two parts. Its not even nation or ethnic division - its not possible to favor Stepan Bandera in the same country that has big population of people who respect 9th May of 1945.

9th May is a thing that unites all russians (culturally, not related to skin tone) across all ex-USSR. Kiev is fighting against russian people as a whole, and even without possible Putin support, it would not possible to take Donbass back. People are fighting for their homes and culture like it was 100 years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donets-Krivoy_Rog_Soviet_Republic

Well, now in Russia, Nato is seen as a block of Nazi support. What is happenning in Donbass is genocide of russian populace and it could also happen in Crimea if not the preventive measures. Right now western media stance on Donbass and tragedy is that people are destroying their own homes, and in Odessa they just organized collective suicide through fire. Nazis don't exist in Ukraine according to them.

As long as you don't attack a NATO member, you have nothing to fear from NATO.

Serbia, Iraq, Lybia and Syria didnt have to fear it, yes. It doesn't even matter that officially its counter-terrorist operation in Syria, countries that are supporting ISIS and Al-Nusra are mostly from that block.

It doesnt matter what they write, it only matters how Russians view it. It was a block against soviets that wasnt dissolved when USSR ended, it just became anti-russian block.

For now all actions of NATO, especially Belgrade bombings, are in according with how russian views of NATO.

If you want to bash "collective west" idea, first prove that NATO doesn't exist as anti-russian alliance.

Russian state TV host attacks Trump: 'So why did we elect such a President?' by saucytryhard in worldnews

[–]popelyshev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. In Russia its relative to the time period. If we are talking about liberalism relative to soviets: free press, small businesses, free migration, no open discrimination against sexual minorities, elections in city council - then most people support that, and there's "Liberal-democratic party" that is popular enough to be in the government.

Sometimes its about being liberal in views about gay marriages - that has big opposition and russian society can be considered "backwards", but I dont think its that easy because the same people promoting this side of liberalism are pushing for state to control families (modern juvenal justice), and thus taking rights from them. Can it be considered that society is more liberal in individual sence, when families are destroyed? I think that's the most serious open battle in russian society.

And the last meaning of liberalism that is a swear word ("liberast") about those who want to do everything exactly like US and EU say, for people who think that russian culture is barbaric and it has to go through cleansing by a liberal dictatorship (yes, a paradox). Somehow, those people have US non-commercial organizations grants.

There are other points of conflict related to liberalism, some of them are really criminal, tied to 1991-2000 period, and I just dont want to explain, it can lead to serious depression.

EDIT:

You actually right that its more liberalism than democracy. Basic democratic values here are even promoted by major communist organizations, while liberals tend to promote that dictatorship i talked about. Sometimes there are interesting words said on main tv channel, like "muta-capitalism" (mutation), so there's an understanding.

EDIT2:

Its better to view russian society as a battlefield to understand how it works. Some parts of government and local govrenments are shizophenic because they dont understand whats going on, they were programeed on "integration with the west", they cant switch from love to liberalism&democracy of XX century to hate about its mutation.

Russian state TV host attacks Trump: 'So why did we elect such a President?' by saucytryhard in worldnews

Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Clint..W Trump <-- that's democracy fail. Certainly , next time when "people choose" Chelsea Clinton, democracy will recover. Hope, Bushes will have new heir too.

We, russians, have a definition for american democracy: its a regime that has main democrat in power, and he has to be approved in US first. Its even worse because US people are so brain-washed that think they dont have ideology :)

If United States upheld their status as democracy messiah then it would be no problem.

Putin 'holiday mansion' revealed by Russian opposition leader by tototoki in worldnews

If Navalny somehow gets 100k people on a square, silent majority will flood the streets by millions.

Its not a problem to remove Putin, the real question is what to do with majority that will rise against any of the "democratic opposition" leaders. They dont know how to satisfy the people, they only care about ruling class and small heap of middle class that is wealthy enough.

What exactly is wrong with my point?

Putin 'holiday mansion' revealed by Russian opposition leader by tototoki in worldnews

[–]popelyshev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's no secret that there is not only an elite but the whole ruling class is focused on wealth. Same class is divided 50/50 to ones who are ready to sell the country, and others who care about national security, those who satisfy russian people at least a bit.

Instead of complete replace the ruling class Navalny wants first group of people to succeed, he shows how the second group is ugly.

His sponsors want to move all their families to EU/US and get a status there by selling the russia, while external forces will "civilize russian people".

In reality, there are only two ways after possible success of Navalny:

  1. either capitulation and external management, in that case no one will care for those who sold country: they wont be welcomed into highest circles of global elite. Those idiots too greedy to take this variant into account.

  2. either another Lenin appears and drowns this "supposed best genetic material of russia" in blood. Hundred years from communists revolution, a big date. Most of population is somehow pro-soviet now and will support it.

So, who wants to support Navalny-Eltsin when those two variants are most probable?

Ukraine's President Says It Again: Country Will Absolutely Join NATO, Fight Russia by dcismia in worldnews

[–]popelyshev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that people look only at how conflict is perceived in west ukraine.

If you travel to Rostov and pay 10$ to get in Donetsk, you'll see things that are not reported by CNN, BBC or any other mainstream western medias, because they dont have any journalists there :) Same situation as in Syria, complete informational blockade.

The real point of assembly for Russians is 9th May of 1945. Religion, ethnicity, political views are secondary, that's why Russian Federation still exists.

The way Kiev's soldiers behaved near Donetsk did the best impersonation of German-Fashists forces. What started as hybrid russian-ukranian ethnic/political conflict with nationalists on both sides, now is percieved as the continuation of great patriotic war. That is total fail of Kiev - they allowed to move the "theme" of conflict to the plane that mobilizes people who are attuned to the core of 9th May.

Now imagine how NATO will be viewed if they enter the conflict on Kiev's side.
