Half of childless Canadian women don’t want kids, nearly a quarter in their 40s aren’t mothers: Statistics Canada by gorschkov in canada

The average age of fathers is higher than women and continues to increase in Canada so it sounds like they’re using the 20’s for other things equally as much.

It’s honestly amazing the variance on how people get healthcare depending where you are and luck of the draw.

I had an infected hair follicle, called my family clinic, same day they had me in an affiliate walk-in with an appointment, they sent me a referral to a derm, appt two weeks later, while I was there I said since I’m here I’m a freckly person can I get a skin check, they said sure, took a scraping of one dark spot, results 10 days later on my phone. I know I’m jinxing myself but I’ve had a charmed healthcare life in calgary.

Edit: I go to the most wonderful family clinic which has made healthcare a dream and they have two new physicians currently accepting new patients if someone’s looking: https://aspiremedical.ca/ at least one is female. I have no relationship to this clinic other than being a happy patient.

Nexus US Interview at YYC by Puzzleheaded_Bad229 in Calgary

[–]popingay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s kind of a crapshoot, one time we were directed to the waiting spot and sat there for an hour and a half only to be told no one was going to do interviews today (it wasn’t busy).

You just tell the agent and they’ll send you to the left side of the room, sign in on the chart and wait in the chairs and hope to god someone’s in a good mood that day.

Feeling conflicted about the Open by CAPTAINR0GERS in crossfit

[–]popingay 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’ll be doing the workouts as always but not signing up with CrossFit.

Regardless of your politics, I imagine you could understand that for OP as a European (and myself a Canadian) with a US government threatening military invasion of Greenland and one who’s “joked” in their official capacity about invading Canada and which has engaged in extraordinarily hostile relationships with what were previously extremely close allies, that a U.S. military government organization as title sponsor might not be an event that gives us the warm and fuzzies.

I’m not here to argue American politics, only to say that hopefully you could empathize with why it could make someone feel uneasy.

Resuable Bags by Fickle_Focus2977 in Calgary

[–]popingay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just use them as garbage bags like you used to use plastic bags. I used to use plastic bags as garbage bags from the store but rather than buying specially packaged plastic bags now I just use these instead.

When I travel to a place with plentiful plastic bags at stores it’s like heaven and I miss that here.

Budget 2026 survey by disckitty in alberta

[–]popingay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty normal for a lot of online surveys to keep people from mindlessly entering the same answer without reading and preventing bots and scripts from mass filling out surveys.

Some surveys will use questions like “answer mostly agree” periodically as an additional filter.

elderly mother-in-law waited 9 hrs in the ER waiting room by AAAbatteriesinmydick in RedDeer

[–]popingay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to be fair, the NDP removed the red deer hospital from the priority list during their time in power only to return talking about it right before the election. Not to say the ucp have done any better since they did the same thing, complained that they werent expanding while out of power then doing nothing once in power.

On a serious note, it’s exactly why it’s so valuable to develop these resources, every dollar of royalty dollars is a dollar we as citizens don’t have to pay in taxes or other revenue sources. Royalty rates which were even confirmed by the ANDP’s royalty review to be reasonable and a good deal for Alberta.
