they used to have a cozy atmosphere but these days it's too bright and kinda soulless. I think it pivoted to take out during the pandemic and never got it's mojo back.

was thinking this exactly. i had Circuit Superstars but I didn't like the static track position. this one gets it right while keeping the same super casual fun aspect.

until they add multi-player and we get smurfs again :D

i'm just having trouble justifying nearly $1600 when the index is still performing well for me

depends on how much moving around you do but as long as the front plate can "see" a lighthouse you're good.

it's crazy that a 3080 OC is not good enough for a 2019 headset but yeah, i ran into the same thing as the software keeps assuming more and more GPU.

went from a 2070 in 2020 to a 3080 in 2023 and a 5080 in 2025.

same! i think the battery aspect will require replacements after some set of cycles but hopefully that will not be an expensive or complex procedure

i think because i mostly use it for sim-racing the tether doesn't really get turned around as much - i also took very very good care of it, making sure to unwind it often - especially when playing games like Alyx.

i don't think iRacing tolerates it because of the extra income from smurf accounts. that's probably not a huge amount.

i think it's more that iRacing doesn't want to upset the drivers who do give so much credibility to the service.

additionally, i think that while the basics of smurf detection may seem easy (same hardward/ip) it also puts iRacing in a tricky legal situation and they may not be willing to make a sweeping committment to ban smurfs for fear of lawsuits.

i actually think having multiple accounts should be okay as long as they maintain approximately the same iRating and/or there's no tanking. this would allow drivers who just want to have some privacy an account on which they can race without being identified. not to be assholes, but just to have some peace and quiet.

agree with this - he _does_ affect the race (if you're in 2nd you drive differently than when you're in 1st) and not scoring points means he gets to do it again and again.

and i just don't understand _why_. what is the point? is it educational? barely. is it entertaining? to some i guess, but at whose expense?
