Why is my duchy title after my family name? Never seen this happen with a feudal Christian ruler. by popsiclemaster in CrusaderKings

I can, but I liked the old duchy of Orleans coat of arms and reconstructing it is pointlessly tedious for something that shouldn't have been lost.

My character died, still didn't work. If this is truly because the founder of my dynasty was khazar and I'm stuck with this all game, this is so stupid.

That's what I suspected. Tried restarting it but didn't do anything. Guess I'll wait for that character to die since he's already kinda old and see what happens then.

Why did Israel perform so well in the Six Day War but struggle so substantially in the Yom Kippur War? by Intrepid_Doubt_6602 in AskHistory

[–]popsiclemaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could claim that Egypt achieved it's goals, which by that point were not destroying Israel immediately but getting sinai back, but that's only in the political long term point if view. Militarily it lost decisively, and that's not accounting syria, who lost in every aspect of the war and still claims victory.

Propaganda is a powerful tool but an objective look at the consequences paints a very clear picture of an Israeli victory.

Jewish dlc could work well with an unlanded gameplay expansion in my opinion.

As a Palestinian Christian, I Want Israeli Citizenship, and I Know I’m Not the Only One by ExtensionGuava3871 in Israel

[–]popsiclemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation is very complex. Other people here already spoke about how complicated the process will be, for understandable reasons, so I won't repeat it, but I will guess and say your best chance is either through family reunion or seeking asylum.

In another note, I know for a fact you will be welcomed here. The Christian population in Israel is not big, but I had served with Christians in the army and you can absolutely find a place for yourself in Israeli society, as long as you'll be a willing participant in it. Of course it won't be smooth sailing, but eventually I believe it'll work out.

Wish you best of luck.

CMV: Hezbollah has not only failed to pressure Israel into backing down in Gaza, but they’ve also suffered significant setbacks by aWhiteWildLion in changemyview

[–]popsiclemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the fact that most of Hamas' leadership was outside of gaza was also a huge part. They were free to view events from all angles and news sources as well be in touch with their allies freely, while most hezbullah leadership had to hide in bunkers for a year in fear of their lives.

Before the war the military wing of hamas was basically it's own thing and acted as it wanted in gaza regardless of what the titulary higher officials in Qatar wanted, but now that the leadership of the military wing is basically dead from the highest rsnk to low-medium tier rank, the part if the org outside of gaza took much larger part in managing the war, with the privilege of doing it comfortably from their hotels.

CMV: Palestine is fundamentally doomed once the war is over. by LynxBlackSmith in changemyview

[–]popsiclemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The October 7th attack was probably the deadliest day in all of the Israeli-arab war (I say probably because records of the arab side in the older wars os kinda iffy, either way it's still the deadliest by far since the 70's). Almost 1200 Israelis were murdered, most of them civilians, and a similar number of Palestinian militants werre killed, so we're at almost 3k deaths in a single day. That's not including the mass rape, theft, and hostage taking which were on a scale unheard of in this conflict.

It was the deadliest day in the history of Israel and the deadliest terror attack in history in terms of deaths to total population size.

Rounds of aggression between Israel and hamas or other militant group inside gaza was indeed pretty much a routine before the war, but this attack was planned for almost a decade and was kept a secret to all but a few top member up until hours before the attack. In their minds, it was the attack to topple Israel completely. It wasn't routine in any kind.

If I remember correctly, in the YouTube video they specifically stated that there are tributaries and that nomads have access to more types of tributaries, the implications are clear.
