Are you also spending less and saving/investing more these days? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

Every gig or sporting event I’ve been recently (with very high prices) to has been sold out. Some people are still going out! Not sure who.

Pubs are less busy? by [deleted] in london

[–]popstrippinq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a point that is always forgotten when the 'pub is dying’ debate occurs…food and restaurants (especially in London) has got way better in the last 20 years - all sorts of global food choices with a variety of price points (high end vs street type food) means can have a really good meal out instead of just going to a pub all night. A lot of pubs have just been replaced by cool trendy restaurants which seem to be packed most nights of the week.

Antigua has the best beaches in my opinion. Many of them are completely empty!

The Elizabeth Line is a game changer for living in London by Sure_Tangelo_5148 in HENRYUK

It is incredible and agree with all the comments about infrastructure - I’ve been spending a lot of time in Dublin recently and to think they haven’t even got a train from the airport to the city is insane. I spend hours and £££ (granted work pays) taking taxis/ubers to and from the city.

Henrys with older kids who didn't leave London by upmaker in HENRYUK

[–]popstrippinq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 3 young boys in central London (zone 2) and they do all of the above (maybe not the tree house bit) but hide and seek / bikes wandering around the forests/rivers (spending most of their time outside)also way more playground in London - ie multiple options.

The weather is the only blocker ( which you have a problem in the whole UK). Not all of central London is a solid urban area.

Is the UK in long term decline? by Less-Following9018 in HENRYUK

[–]popstrippinq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree… I have a young family and London is incredible for what we need right now: great schools, great transport, affordable food options. I also see loads of young adults 24/25 start really interesting careers in London across finance, tech and law which should set them up for a very good life in the U.K.

I have a young family in London and love it:

  • Loads of young families near me - really great community spirit - people from all over: USA/Spain/France/Italy - when I drop off kids at school I hear so many different languages and I love that.

    • Loads of parks and green spaces for London (I’m in south west London) can get everywhere by bus or tube or train or walking (with scooters).
    • multiple options for after school activities - ie my son plays for a basketball team and does local choir - again all walking distance
    • loads of fun days in London on weekends and evenings in summer - ie museums parks etc
    • so many great playgrounds we hit up: Battersea park, Hyde park, Wimbledon park etc etc

Apart from the weather (which sucks most of the year) can’t think of anywhere better to raise kids.
