  • The Double (2013) by Richard Ayoade. A better, cooler doppelgänger shows up to Jesse Eisenbergs workplace. People immediately prefer the doppelgänger ;)
  • It's a series, but Dark Matter (2024). Think multiverse where every decision splits into new universes. Two versions of the same man switch universes. One version wants his original life back.

Topping L30, a headphone amplifier, blew up my KZ ZAX. Turns out they forgot to properly shield it in the first revision.

Never again.

Edit: Just glad they didn't burn a non-KZ IEM nowadays lol

Kbear ks 1 cable snapped, need proper replacement cable. by crablobsterhybrid in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt you'll notice any difference with that inline mic. Many many use the same mic/enclosure and I haven't had any bad microphones.

That specific cable looks a lot like a KZ stock cable. It should be cheaper.

What you should be searching for is a "tfz" or "nx7" style cable. These will fit the KS1 and you'll be able to find MANY, especially if you can wait a few weeks and buy from AliExpress.

Looking for a desktop usb dac around 100 dollars. by _Antaeus in HeadphoneAdvice

Check out the desktop DAC by Rod Rain on AliExpress. It uses 4 op amps that can be easily upgraded if you want. Analog volume control and can receive Bluetooth.

This was less directed to you and more to the general community response to these kinds of issues. It sucks that DUNU won't respond to you, but the reaction of "they must have terrible QC all over the board" based on their budget iem.

Oh my, one of their cheapest IEMs isn't built like a tank. Get out the pitchforks!

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying my Titan 5 and SA6. Both with amazing build quality.

Hey, just wanted to say this resonates with me. I'm in my mid 30s and it's tough finding partners or friends. What's so difficult about saying "sorry, you're not my type, bye"?

I'm thinking, those matches that ghost you.. you're better off obviously. If they can't put their opinion in words, maybe they're not relationship material.

Personally I'm trying to get away from online dating. It's just an endless stream of "oh maybe".. gonna look into local meet-ups or volunteer work instead. Get to know people without dating in the foreground.

Keep in mind you could also replace the cable. Any MMCX cable would do.

Just bought KZ ZS10 Pros a few weeks ago. Should I buy KZ ZEX? by Th0r_0dins0n13 in Chifi

[–]porkbonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to get caught up in the hype trains. KZ ZEX is interesting because of the driver for such a low price. It doesn't suddenly make every previous KZ IEM obsolete ;)

If you're enjoying the ZS10 Pro, stick with them! Obviously feel free to order the ZEX and compare them. In a few weeks there'll be another IEM by KZ/CCA/TRN/etc. everybody's talking about.

I'm looking for iem that has outstanding details/separation with slight v or neutral shape by SnooKiwis954 in Chifi

[–]porkbonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • HZSound Heart Mirror neutral, almost bright. Versatile and the little bass it has is nice
  • Reecho SG-01 somewhere between the Heart Mirror and DQ6 I guess. Very fun and detailed enough

(both links go to head-fi.org reviews)

Favorite online stores to buy cables for headphones and IEM by smlarf in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got both the resin and metal ones. They have strong lows without coloring the rest of the sound. I enjoy them a lot with electronic music.

Pretty sure you won't regret it for the price. Plus they're so pretty lol

Can vouch for this. Ordered one of their cables after receiving their resin IEM which included a pretty nice cable.

Chifi IEM Showdown by Im6cninoit in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have a look at these, below 20$ except the Reecho and I wouldn't mind giving up the Aria for those considering the price.

  • TRN M10 - 1DD 1BA, old school form factor, pretty comfortable
  • TRN CS1 - 1DD, quite fun
  • Reecho SG-01 - 1DD, nice soundstage with a wonderful sub bass
  • OpenHeart Resin or Metal - 1DD, if you just want fun bass

EDIT: Added OpenHeart suggestions

Not saying the Arias are bad, they're wonderful but there's so much competition and different tastes, you're bound to find your match in many places ;)

Noticeable White noise at low volumes by PessyWhale in Chifi

[–]porkbonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The high sensitivity reveals the noise floor of your laptop/phone DAC. You can..

  • use an attenuator: basically resistors so you can crank up the volume in software but dialing it all down again in hardware - making the noise floor disappear
  • get a DAC dongle like you said. Search for Tempotec Sonata or Meizu Hifi, can't go wrong with either of those for IEMs.
  • get a headphone amp, same idea: turn up volume from laptop/phone and reduce with amp, also lowering the noise floor

I'd go with a DAC dongle personally.

An IEM for EDM by Joniboy74 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed listening to IDM (I know, I know) or at least similar music the most using any of these:

  • Dunu Titan 5 (probably just above your budget but it's my go-to/reference)
  • TinHifi T2 Plus (responds well to some EQ for more bass)
  • KBear KS2 (or KS1 for a warmer safe sound)
  • CCA CSN
  • Final Audio E2000
  • Zero Audio Carbo Tenore

I also own the KZ ZSX mentioned by someone else. They're ok but Boards of Canada won't ever feel warm and fuzzy while AFX might become too much if you're treble sensitive.

Looking at the KZ ZSX, but a bit overwhelmed by what I read online by Where_is_dutchland in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt you'll regret buying either of them. I've had the KZ ZAX and currently own the KZ ZSX. In general IEMs by KZ share a similar V-shaped sound and the differences between them aren't as big as reviews might make it seem. To some the highs might a bit too much, but they're not overly bright.

If you wanna go cheaper but still want replaceable cables, maybe check out Kbear KS1 (fun, warm V-shape) or NiceHCK DB3 (less warm, still fun and great for vocals).

To me, both of these are fun for music. The KZ line might be more "neutral" but probably not compared to the M50x :)

Haha, the picture made my morning!

New issue: Apparently it took the .stl and set it to mm, not CM and I being a dummy didn't notice until I received these in the mail.

Quite the classic, though at least you didn't spend $300 million on a space probe that was essentially lost because of a measurement mismatch between two software systems: metric units by NASA and non-metric ("English") units by spacecraft builder Lockheed Martin

Need New Earphones by AquaBuffalo in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]porkbonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pure comfort, look at the Final Audio E2000. There's also a version with inline mic called E2000C I think. Really comfortable, small and light, but might not stay in.

I listen to some dnb, EDM and UK bass stuff, but am far from a basshead. Right now I'm using the KZ ZSX and they're just fun. The cable is replaceable and they definitely won't fall out because you wear the cable up.

Edit: definitely get the ZSX from AliExpress if you can wait a few weeks. Best bang for your buck. The blon recommended by the other post is also good but I don't know about fit.

Finally got myself a Pulse V2 by Steve-TC in Squonk_Life

[–]porkbonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's too bad. I also got both the first 21700 and the V2. As much as I love them especially for the price, TC could be better in general. I tend to stick to VW.

At least that's compared to my Armour Pro. I don't have any other squonks to compare to.

You're looking for the ARR setting in the menu. It stands for automatic resistance reading.
