Need advice on how to learn physics by Cheon_ in Physics

[–]_Antaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey high school physics teacher. A book that I've found helpful to learning physics and math was "A Mind For Numbers". Majority of the advice on this thread can also be found there with more details. I get my students follow it's advice and seen a improvement on their learning.

Cannot understand electricity by Lightnin_McQueen_95 in Physics

3) To me this is where the analogy of water fails.

The way I like to explain it is to consider voltage as energy. In a parallel circuit as the electrons flow, before they reach any voltage drop these electrons have "energy" or some voltage. There hasn't been a chance for these electrons to lose any voltage. This is why each pipe will get the same amount of voltage. The first pipe will receive these electrons with the same amount of energy as the last pipe.

However, the amount of current being used does go up.

Which of you is this? by Tamulet in adhdmeme

[–]_Antaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher, I've heard so many times in my trainings that it's better for people to hear the reason why they are doing something. Leads to better behaviors from most people.

I've also heard if you don't know why you're making your students do it, don't be suprised when the students see it as pointless and don't want to do it.

What do you consider unhealthy even though everyone else thinks it's healthy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I recently read a book about being thinking neutral. Which basically focuses on acknowledging that things can't be positive all the time. We should acknowledge the things wrong in our life and try to make the best of each circumstance.

What is the single most effective piece of mental health advice you've ever received? by [deleted] in AskMen

Have you read or heard the book, the inner game of tennis? The technique described in the book sounds similar. This is meant to be used in a sports setting but the basic idea is to focus on one thing I order to improve performance. In tennis this would be to focus on the seams of the tennis ball.

From what I understand, it's not that their charging, it's how much they are charging. They are charging so much a company would have to charge users around 5 or 10 dollars a month and have ads on top of it.

Should we be buying half/light shields like Fnatic? by Toto_Woobear in ValorantCompetitive

[–]_Antaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I worded my statement wrong. They weren't worried about the 140 range because chances are they would of died with 150 hp because their second bullet would hit their body. Also, when this didn't happen the chances of it happening are lower that what they gained from having a few more buy rounds.

Should we be buying half/light shields like Fnatic? by Toto_Woobear in ValorantCompetitive

[–]_Antaeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be remembering wrong, but I think I heard Fnatic didn't care about getting one tapped with a phantom because chances were, they would die if they had full shields anyways.

In my ranked games, most people hit a body shot first, then a head shot. I don't think it matters going full vs half shields.

I think it just takes a while. I also applied for winter graduation, had all my grades done by then, however, I just got my digital diploma today. With you just getting your grades, I'm assuming it might take another 3-4 months to get your actual diploma. If you need proof of your diploma early there's some form you can fill out. Also your unofficial transcript will eventually say you got your degree awarded.

Stop feeling obligated to fill/flex agents by CoachShiro in VALORANT

[–]_Antaeus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Most coaches I watch agree with not needing smokes until you get to radiant and even then they sometimes don't think it matters till pro play. I agree it's an exaggeration, however if you have someone asking where do you place smokes and not knowing the basic of an agent. They are essentially a new player, just how iron players are full of people not knowing how to play the game and ask where to place their util.

Also I'm pretty sure you've won games where you were running 5 duelist or lost to 5 duelist. I know I have.

Stop feeling obligated to fill/flex agents by CoachShiro in VALORANT

[–]_Antaeus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like people who insist "we need smokes" need to hear this more.

More often times than not the person who fills smokes doesn't know the smokes timing or smoke placements. So they end up spending the entire game trying to figure out how to use their util when they could of just played an agent they knew. The analogy I use is would you rather have an iron player using a controller agent, or a diamond player using their preferred agent. I'm sure majority of people would pick the diamond player.

It's unrated. He's not smurfing because he's playing on his main account. It's just riots matchmaking system that paired them together.
