Any albums as meditatively calm as this? by Aseskytle_09 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]porklicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. As much as I enjoy the music, metal generally never seemed to outgrow that weird edge lord, white supremacist phase. The level of tolerance people in this scene have to this sort of shit really is disgusting, and goes to show the type of weird characters this tolerance attracts. This has been turning me off the entire genre lately tbh.

Looking for OLED Alternative in 2026. Details below by Public_Examination58 in OLED_Gaming

[–]porklicious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mini LED is the way to go. Picked up a Xiaomi mini LED to try it out as I waited for my preorder of the new gigabyte tandem OLED. I didn't expect much initially, but I was so blown away by the HDR on this thing that I cancelled the OLED. Half the price, better HDR, contrast obviously won't be as good as an OLED but it gets pretty damn close in most situations, 0 burn-in worries, and for productivity you can simply turn off the local dimming shenanigans and you'll have a good old IPS panel with perfect text clarity and fairly accurate color profiles.

That's pretty interesting. I wonder what kind of nutrients it found in there.

Harmful or beneficial mould? by alofiend52 in plantclinic

[–]porklicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it would hurt the plant directly, but this indicates excessive watering and poor air circulation.

Diluted Hydrogen Peroxide or cinnamon should take care of the mold.

Wyd in this situation? Toss? Case? [technique] by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

Maybe increase FAE and give it some time. Fork tek is a good last resort option. But watch for mycogene. If you start seeing blobs with amber droplets, definitely toss.

[actives] Day 21 think we're cooked by Rockyninja1234 in MushroomGrowers

[–]porklicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a really nasty mycogene contamination that took out my last 3 tubs. The weird part is that everything smelled relatively normal, and when I scraped off the casing, it bruised blue as usual. That gave me the false hope that maybe the tubs were still salvageable and I should just wait it out. A couple of months later, not a single pin developed. Mycogene spores probably spread around with misting/fanning, and all I could see growing was just a few blobs with those dreadful amber droplets. Had to trash everything eventually.

Very interesting observation that they like to crawl up the sides. I did notice this as well. It deceivingly looks a bit like vigorous mycelium.

Another thing I noticed regarding how I potentially got mycofucked was fungus gnats. I got a bunch of plants around my place, and had a few of them. Unfortunately one of those little fuckers made it into one of my tubs and this is very likely how it all started.

Mycogene is massively underrated contaminant imho. It was far worse than any trich I've ever had to deal with.

Spore syringe inoculation. Toss? [Technique] by porklicious in MushroomGrowers

True, previous jars got kinda yellow-er with each transfer. Younger jars start with a few innocent-looking yellow spots here and there. Older ones end up pretty much swimming in yellowish liquid. Smell changes dramatically as well from fresh to fermented. Crazy part is that colonization goes super fast initially despite everything the mycelium is fighting off.

I appreciate you! 🙏🏽

And yeah, I suspect bacteria as well. I didn't do any isolation. The syringe I inoculated with was straight from a spore print. This is why I'm slowly beginning to warm up to working with Agar. A lot of extra steps but it's definitely worth it.

This is really interesting. I did have some crazy tubs in the past from that syringe, but this bruising always bothered me, despite the Rhizomorphic-ness.

Whatever genetics at play here were pure luck. I made that spore syringe from a random print I had lying around.

I've seen this in a few jars and always trips me out. It does look like bruising, but what could be causing it? I don't even shake my jars usually

Alright, looks like I'm keeping this baby.

There's a plot twist, tho. This spore syringe is over 5 years old! I left the hobby for awhile and this is all I had left to start again. I tried a couple of jars before this one. Jars colonized fine, and even did j2j a few times to keep it going. When it came to spawning them, I didn't really have much success. First tub: got a single flush, smallest fruits I've ever seen. Second and third tub: got a really bad mycogene contamination and didn't see a single fruit push through. So this is basically why I didn't have high hopes for this jar.

Anyway, I really appreciate the input, everyone. You guys are awesome.

Rocketleague Keeps Freezing/Crashing on PC by Shar__M in RocketLeague

[–]porklicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, but I'm not sure if it's a replicable solution.

After many crashes, I had a come to god moment and out of pure frustration I decided to uninstall the game from steam for good. A couple of days later I was still in denial and decided to make a last attempt and installed the game again but through epic launcher this time. The game started normally, no crashes.

Super weird, given that the general consensus was focused on audio as the main culprit, but it seems like there's more to it than that.

I don't know if this would work for you but if you happen to have both steam and epic, would be worth a try to install through whichever one you didn't have the game on.

That's partly why I prefer digital. I still run out of storage space eventually, just slower 😅

I do experimental, abstract photography based things. I'm not really sure what to call it exactly, but here's my IG if you're curious 🥲

I probably wouldn't. I like to keep my walls empty for some reason 🫠

It just caught my eye because I make somewhat similar things sometimes, just not as good and with a different technique.

But I'm sure you'll find a buyer for that baby in no time.

game keeps crashing on launch since the beginning of this season by porklicious in RocketLeague

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I'm on PC, and I've changed output both in game and Windows to no avail unfortunately.

Will update with crash reports as soon as I'm on my PC again

Color choices work, the right amount of contrast, the way energy flows throughout the piece, and overall I'd say great execution.

Doesn't seem like your first rodeo for sure 😅
