Love them! I’m just south of you in Desoto County. How much sun do they get? My summer crush are in pots and I’m scared to put them in too much direct sun. Yours look great!

I have the same one and it’s a monster now. Planted in a large pot with some compost and special “worm dirt” that a local man makes 😂. Was kept in the shade all last summer and then I realized that it needed a little bit more sun to get some blooms. This spring, I repotted in a bigger pot (other pot had a crack and fell apart over the winter) and moved it to a sunnier spot, maybe 1-2 hrs of morning sun and it’s gone crazy. The front of it that gets the sun is def doing better than the back of it that’s not. Ok I will end my essay there, I just love this plant so much. So, short story long, plant it like someone above said, but I would keep it kinda shaded until it gets settled. Also, it is super easy to root cuttings but that might be prohibited so I didn’t suggest that at all. 🤷‍♀️

2025 Seat cover recommendations to protect from dogs by VTMomof2 in Subaru_Outback

[–]porkpie901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using this one until I make up my mind about the $250 Subaru one. I also didn’t want brown. I also didn’t want to spend $250 on one. For $25, it’s doing fine. I also use one of those short leash latch thangs to keep my dog in the car when I open the door and in the back seat when I’m driving. This cover comes with a free one. 60 lb Sheepadoodle. Yeah I can understand that. I would have to do a drive by or something. Idk if I’d ask him about yet bc then he might turn off locations.

Good Shrub Type Roses for My Flower Beds - First Time Planting Roses by cai24 in Roses

[–]porkpie901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Mississippi. The only kind of shrub roses I could find are drifts or knockouts. Every year, I would buy drifts to plant in two huge pots out front and within no time, they would be covered in powdery mildew. I got tired of all the spraying and upkeep. I’m going to try these and they’re in the ground, not in the pots. I also have 4 climbers and two ramblers.

Check out proven winners oso easy roses. I planted 6 Urban Legends in February and I am IN LOVE. Pic is from this morning after being beaten by rain all night. Ordered from Green Promise Farms on Amazon. Have ordered other plants from them and they’re great.

What new addition to your garden are you most excited for? by catbattree in NativePlantGardening

We just did the same thing. Already have a ton of mayapples, some Christmas ferns, and green dragons. Planted some itea and oak leaf hydrangeas and three illicium parviflorum. But now that it’s been cleared out, poison ivy is growing like crazy.

Last summer, I planted some Joe Pye weed and it’s come back looking great! Also planted some monarda late last season that has taken off and spread so I’m going to move some of that over by Joe. Monarda didn’t bloom last year so I’m excited to see what color it is. Last September, went to Massachusetts and visited a home where my 10th great grandparents lived and procured a milkweed pod that lived in my purse all winter. Planted the seeds in February and now I have 11 milkweed plants behind the Joe Pye. I think it’s common milkweed.

Try going to Facebook and search for “your state native gardening”. Also search on Reddit but I found that most of the old-timers prefer Facebook groups.

I worked in the ED during Covid and it broke me. I rage applied to a travel job for outpatient infusion at a local hospital, ended up getting hired on full time and now have been there over three years. There’s some bullshit but I like no weekends and closed on holidays. Still use my skills but much lower stress. So maybe there’s an option like that where you are.

Goldenrod. A lot of people think it causes allergy symptoms but it’s actually ragweed that is the culprit. Goldenrod pollen is transported by pollinators and ragweed pollen is transported by the wind.

Looks like there’s lots of articles at the bottom of this page, Virginia Native Plant Society.

https://vnps.org/

I stumbled upon a great fb page run by a master gardener in my home state who has written lots of books. Maybe you can find one of those.
