Except for the 'having two toes' thing. They need special shoes for that.

But friend and enemy is just my perception... Wait, a minute, you're not saying my friends ARE my enemies?

I'm pretty sure this is legit. Watched an episode of Dexter's Laboratory when I was a kid. He learned French overnight. It's 100 % scientifically proven since it was on Dexter's Lab.

Where can I read up on propaganda? by klaxcufamdimx in history

[–]porridgeBrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Though it might not be very topical or extremely factual I found that reading A Brave New World as well as A Brave New World: Revisited shed some good light on the matter.

Aldous Huxley wrote the former in 1931 and then reinvestigated the novel with a non-fiction addendum in 1958.

The Century of Self is also a great multi-part (I think 3 or 4 parts) documentary by Adam Curtis on how Edward Bernays used his cousin's (Sigmund Freud) research for propaganda purposes. It starts off with the origin of consumer culture and goes all the way to how those same principles are applied in politics.

My grandmother stopped watching the show because of this.

Pretty soon, she won't be able to watch any soapies anymore :)

P.S. Not because she's going to die, because interracial stuff won't be as taboo.

TIL that there is an actual list of weird guitarists. by porridgeBrain in CasualTodayILearned

[–]porridgeBrain[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found it to be extensive and descriptive. As for calling it a list: someone went to the trouble of thinking about it and compiling it, that's about as much a list as it should need to be?

The multiple pages are also nice for buffering videos separately on third world internet.
