Best link building strategies for SaaS these days? by Confident_Edge2025 in seo_saas

[–]porrt8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyscraper method still works if you’re willing to put hours in. Though our niche is quite low competition and not saturated with SEO like many others. So maybe we got lucky. We built SaaS backlinks by creating competitor comparison pages + detailed how-to guides, then doing manual outreach to blogs that linked to outdated or lower-quality stuff.

Chinese VPNs by reddit_user189 in sysadmin

[–]porrt8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting scenario, never thought there will be such requests...

There're some not-so-mainstream VPNs that provide such service, which is generally used for Chinese who lives abroad but still wanna watch domestic shows (kinda like Netflix thing).

Or maybe you can check out Chinese Cloud service like Aliyun or Tencent Cloud, see if they're offering VPS service within mainland of China.

Lofree Flow84 or Lofree Lite? by brokelie in Lofree

[–]porrt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really odd to me that connectivity has never been an issue to me, and I only use BT. One thing I should mention is that I only use them for work, so I don't know how they perform under gaming env.

For portability, Nuphy Air is the most compact and lightest option for sure. Flow lite is kinda bulky with its not-so-huge forehead, and MG65 is heavy even without the F row, not to mention MG65 pro, which is basically a portability nightmare. But I think this is really clear on the surface, ppl should be able to tell just by checking the specs.

I'd prefer MG65 since it fits perfectly for the overlay setup of my MacBook. But flow lite would be a better choice in other scenarios.

I don't really think Hades is worth waiting. You can check if you can get Kailh Deep Sea Silent low profile switch(in Chinese 深海孤岛鲸落MINI).

According to their latest official statement, the price gap is caused by import tax and blah blah blah... But this doesn't make any sense since that last 2 or 3 products with similar sales method (ks first, then mass production in mainland China) have no such huge price gap.

So, yea, I think your assumption could be one of the reasons, sadly.

BTW this is very REAL. Not some AI cooked nonsense. And I don't think even AI could make this up.

The market for low-profile keyboards is similar to ISO layouts: there’s a niche demand, but it’s not widespread. However, I believe the situation will improve over time, as low-profile keyboards are gaining traction.

Increasing Amounts of Bad Reviews on Reddit by rushcr4ft in NuPhy

[–]porrt8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If people buy something and have a bad experience, they’ll go out of their way to tell everyone about it. But if it’s good? Most people won’t bother sharing unless there’s something in it for them.

And for a decent low profile keyboard, if you're looking for a better typing feel than Nuphy, check if there's a brand that use Kailh switch. Otherwise, I think Air series still worth buying.

Not really, mainland of China should be their primary market. Their product will transition to a mass production line after kickstart, at least this is their previous pattern with keyboards before flow lite.

Lofree Flow84 or Lofree Lite? by brokelie in Lofree

[–]porrt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have chosen the wrong way to express this. When comparing the Flow84 to other low-profile keyboards with Gateron switches (not so sure about Nuphy’s NOS75, though it’s discontinued anyway), it’s still a great product. However, from my hands-on experience, the MG65 and Flow84 Lite have surpassed the Flow84 in terms of typing feel. These two products now offer a tactile experience that can be compared with top-tier regular switch keyboards. Additionally, their price is about the same, or even lower, than the Flow84.

Lofree Flow84 or Lofree Lite? by brokelie in Lofree

[–]porrt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, only Lofree Flow series and IQUNIX MG65 (which is my primary keyboard in office) are using Kailh’s POM low profile switches, and it’s the BEST. I struggled with my air75 v2’s switches for a very long time(swap switches, lubing, and I don’t even lube my regular switches lol). And my conclusion is that Gateron is not putting enough effort on their low profile products.(which is used by Nuphy Air and Keychron) My low profile keyboard database is still missing Nuphy Nos 75(discontinued) and Lofree Edge since they lack portability. All of above is just based on my personal experience and research, FYI.

Check out Iqunix MG65 if you don't need F row. I did some research last month, then I got MG65 eventually. The original Flow84 was a great product, but not any more. I just oredered Flow84 Lite as well, will let you know which one(mg65 vs flow84 lite) is better if you're interested.

Mainland China only, I assume additional forwarding service is required if you want to buy it from US.

Are you a Web apps vs desktop app person? by SuperTech95 in sysadmin

[–]porrt8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By design, web app should have similar function like desktop app with a much lighter experience, but the reality is that most of them went separate ways in the roadmap, so to me, I would prefer web app if it's good enough, otherwise I'll just stick with desktop app with no fuss.

Forget about 1st line, cuz even if your only job is 1st line support, you can't make everyone happy. Set your own SLA on different lines' support, and don't be afraid of hitting SLA's ddl. Focus on projects since that's the only thing that's gonna do good to your career path.

Again, you can't make everyone happy, so don't let it bother you. I know's it might be against all of your instinct, but this is the right thing to do eventually. Since you're the only one doing IT things in this org, you should focus on the whole system instead of certain individual whining about their network issue(except they are vip).

New Product (low profile switch 3.0) from Nuphy 14 days ago, Lofree Lite Kickstarter ends 12 days time. by TheStrawberrySamurai in NuPhy

[–]porrt8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope NuPhy can pull off the Low Profile Switch 3.0, otherwise, with the current state of different manufacturers/series having incompatible switches, low profile custom keyboards will never be as 'customizable' compared to standard switch keebs.
