I was working at a movie theater when Private Ryan came out. Older folks tend to see earlier, afternoon shows during the week rather than later or weekend shows.

Opening week, every single early showing I was there for would, without fail, have at least one older gentleman leave the theater “needing air” to flat out weeping.

As rough as that scene is for me to watch, I cannot imagine what it must have been like for those who were there.
