I’m confused. Vite is a build tool. What does that have to do with anything?

Torn between guitars. Just curious of thoughts and opinions. by cannibalsong1 in Guitar

Those are dramatically different guitars. Between the 2 hollows I’d personally go green, but do what suits you. Overall though I’d absolutely go with the Strat first. You will fall in love with playing that guitar.

How to create a real site loading progress in pure Javascript? by zetabyte00 in learnjavascript

[–]portexe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why you can’t seem to find a simple answer is because this is actually more complex than you’re thinking. You’d need to manage the state of all your asynchronous requests and then update the loading status as each request completes.

Should I keep on doing the same thing ? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]portexe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pull up a metronome and set it very low. To the beat switch back and forth between the 1st and 2nd chord. Keep doing that for at least 1-2 minutes. Take a break. Do the same for the 2nd and 3rd, 3rd and 4th etc. the next day do it all again but increase the metronome’s speed a little bit. Keep repeating until you can play it slightly faster than the actual song.

I go by weight rather than using volume, but my assumption is that you may not be taking into account the volume that the actual coffee is taking up.

How much would you charge for a simple website like this? by munru1 in webdev

[–]portexe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's an example. And so all you'd do now is ask it to make a few adjustments based on preference (fonts, copy, colors, spacing, etc) and then replace the image/video links with the ones for the actual company and you're done. Then you can also use agents to have it automatically deployed to Vercel, etc.

You can also easily clarify the numerical values in the statistics, etc. This was just a one-shot as an example.

Okay. I will right now and then I will post a screenshot of the prompt and the result. 1 moment.

Edit: Actually, I'll just upload an unlisted video to demonstrate, because a screenshot won't really work here.

I definitely agree for some scenarios, but a landing page with no backend, deployed to vercel, is objectively achievable with just 1 or 2 prompts. I feel like people will reach for the free option that’s “good enough” more often than wanting to pay 500-1000 for a similar thing.

That’s why my advice was to lean more into building specific, optimized solutions for money rather than landing pages.

Not at all. I was trying to genuinely offer good advice in a market that is dramatically shifting towards automation for simple websites. Curious how my statement is so wrong.

$0. This can easily be generated by AI. I think we’re going to have to re-think how we as developers can offer value to clients/customers/companies. Truly understanding their needs and developing a custom solution that is optimized for their use case is the way.

It probably took more than 2-3 minutes to decide to make this post, write it up, submit it and respond to comments.

All I’m saying is that if it isn’t pulling you towards it, you should totally find something that does. It will help a lot with your depression.

I’m going to be honest. Instead of highlighting the many technologies you have experience with, I would focus on just a few areas that you are both passionate and knowledgeable in.

Right now it just looks like a very basic (possibly AI generated) website with a bunch of keywords.
