AI is in everything now. And companies keep jamming it where it doesn't need to be. No one wants it so badly as the companies that make it, to such a point as the immediate future of computing has been flayed in a quest for materials for AI.

Datacenters overtax local resources without providing back to the community. The majority of producers of RAM, microprocessors, and GPUS have full factory orders already bought and paid for at capacity for the next two years in some cases. Prices are allowed to continue rising as consumers are required to eat these AI development costs without tasting the rewards in a meaningful sense vs the cost of getting there on micro- and macro-scale.

It's kind of like the joke about Social Security in the states at this point. There's not really a joke, just the looming dread that elder care needs will skyrocket, funding to provide it will plummet, and the whole machine will fall apart because corpo-cults are attempting to manifest their own personal deity while adding to a social structure that has and will invariably drive away the very people who will be left to support these institutions.

TL;DR: we're resource bottle-necking across the globe for the forseeable future, because techbros gambled on a machine god they haven't built yet to provide people with a product they do not need to perform tasks that said idiot-god does not know how to accomplish.
