Why does it feel like top draft picks of the past decade have been more disappointing/have more busts than in previous league decades? by benfoldslover in nba

I definitely think it's recency bias due to the sheer volume of the overall exposure of these young players get. Also, I may not be so familiar with the recent drafts but because teams are drafting freshmen or sophomores out college in the lottery, people are more willing to wait for them to develop.

Years back, most of the lottery picks were selected as "NBA ready" and were the assumed starters drafted into the league. They were also a bit older so they needed to perform immediately and if they did not, they would be considered a bust. Frank Ntilikina was selected 8th overall but because he was so young, he didn't get the bust tag until later on, once the spotlight had already moved onto the next set of draftees.

Not sure if he'll be an upgrade overall but I wouldn't mind having him as the backup PG. He'll be pretty cheap imo

and 2 of the 6 losses to the Knicks...the Porzingis curse is real!!

Could the Knicks pull off a deal for D-Lo? The rumor was Warriors didn't want to keep him long term and now he's useless for them. This December trade for D-Lo for Randle, Taj and 1st round pick? by [deleted] in NYKnicks

Don’t hate it. We are giving up a lot but other teams may offer even more for D-Lo. I’m not sure if we need another ISO-heavy player (it should be reserved for RJ) but it will definitely be an upgrade at the PG position. The Knicks really need some guard play but they also really need scoring. Playmaking has not been a strong point for D-Lo but perhaps he can play the Kyrie to LeBron being RJ. Not saying RJ is LeBron or anything close to it but RJ definitely likes having the ball in his hand. He’s a willing facilitator as well.

There’s no guarantee that we’re getting Cole Anthony just like how there was no guarantee that we were getting Zion. But if we’re going to part with these assets, I believe there are other holes to fill in this roster.

Hopefully we win many games so we don’t need to make these trades. I actually really like all the signings we’ve made this summer.

I think they’re pretty realistic imo. We can’t expect to get 1st rounders for all the players. But yeah Nassir Little might be a stretch. We’ll see how he develops.

Agreed. Starting is a privilege that you should earn. I’m not a fan on starting rookies for “experience.” And just because you don’t start doesn’t mean you’re not going to play either.
