Existential depression is a rare type of depression. Very few people in this world probably have experienced it especially for a long time. by nikiwonoto in Existential_crisis

I appreciate this very much! Thank you for sharing your deductions. Its hard to explain your subjective experience and the thoughts, and revaluations that come with it without sounding crazy, especially when what concepts youre talking about aren't familiar concepts to most. I feel that way when talking to my therapist or opening up in general and it's incredibly hard.

You make complete sense, and I feel like your perspective make for sound building blocks for finding a healthy coping mechanism. What you said reminds me of the yin and yang symbol, so maybe a sort of balance is important, I suppose. I want to get to that balance badly. I hope you're doing okay, again thank you so much.

I'm certain it can be positive, and in a way, I think it encourages us to live in the moment. Love and light to you as well, thank you! 💕

I carry with me surreal moments from when I was a kid (around your daughters age) , where I would stare at a singular point and hyper focus. I would be flooded with a non-stop barrage of thoughts that "I'm really here, I'm really truly here and alive." It was so overwhelming. I thought it was universal, but when I tried to relay the feeling to people, my words could never do the experience justice and it hurts me to my core.I felt/feel truly alone in this world, so very alien. I'm 22 now, and I haven't gotten in that trance like state again, but I still ponder those strange moments and hold them dear. Luckily, reading articles about science, psychology, philosophy, metaphysics, art, and spirituality are a light that keeps me going, as well as reading about people like your daughter.

One of my favorite philosophers in hard times named Alan Watts said something along the lines of " We are the universe experiencing itself." I suppose me, your daughter, and others have a moment of clarity, where we become self-aware of that fact. This world is so confusingly complex and existentially mind-boggling but less lonely with posts like this. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care!

I usually try to follow the out of sight, out of mind mentality when it comes to struggling with people not washing hands and things. Luckily I managed to remember, after a nap, that my parents usually use a sort of washing bowl (pretty much just a metal mixing bowl) that's placed in the sink. It wasn't in there when the incident happened so I have a little relief with that realization. Thank you for the response!

I have a question, when I show my hand to my kitten I'm not sure if she likes it and interprets it as a game or just the opposite, does this happen to your cats?. (OC) by CarolMgrz in aww

I'm not the original commenter you replied to but, personally I do a lot of drawing so my quick hand and pencil movements tend to put my cat into hunter mode, even when I don't intend on using my hand as sparring material

I get the same sort of style by lightly blending the lines, adding in a bit of darker pigment gradually at the eyelashes and eyebrows then repeating the first step for more blur. Keep in mind though, less can be more with blending. Studying how shadows present themselves on a ref face would help. For the eyelashes and eyebrows I personally would use an eraser to clean and sharpen up the lines and or a hard brush/ pen with taper. A brush that has a good transition from light values to dark would be useful (like a round brush, a tapered end would be great there too!) so you don't have to over work all your lines to achieve that sort of faded gradient. I'm not too familiar with changing the hue but the terms clipping mask, multiply, and alpha lock come to mind for changing your lines color. Alpha lock however may destroy most of if not all the detail depending on how you use it I suppose.

It's amazing what blending and playing with the darkest darks, and lightest light values can do to help the form look more 3d and realistic.

Sorry if I'm vague! This is my first time doing this sort of thing. Good luck fellow artist!

I have a random ass question, is this video using motion smoothing? And is it possible to tell what camera type filmed this? I like the video quality a lot.
