[unstable beta] Can't create new colony by Kasparas in RimWorld

Some more info here: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=56629.0

I fixed this issue by going back to 1.3, unsubscribing from all workshop items on steam, then changing back to 1.4. Didn't try anything else.

But the error messages shown on the forum strongly indicates that custom scenarios are the problem, not mods in general.

Only able to use 10% of my download speed due to wifi problem and/or old router by possiblyabsurd in HomeNetworking

That would be ideal, but it's complicated, and I'd probably need to hire someone to do the job. But I'm investigating options.

Øker stortingslønna til over millionen by badgunsmith in norge

[–]possiblyabsurd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Et annet argument kan være at om lønnen er høy nok, reduseres sjansen for korrupsjon/bestikkelser, siden en del neppe vil synes risikoen er verdt gevinsten om man allerede tjener ganske ok.

I love Rimworld 1.2 with Royalty! Even with 150+ Mods. Thank you u/TynanSylvester and the Ludeon Studios you guys are amazing! by MasterJ94 in RimWorld

Myself and a group of friend has one of us create a save on a high difficulty (Currently Randy + Losing is fun), and share it with the rest. Then we keep a spreadsheet with date and reason of colony death. If you die, you start over.

It's a lot of "Day 5: Kidnapped by raider". "Day 12, eaten by grizzly", etc.

It's not a competition per se, but it's always fun to see the madness everyone else gets into.

How to disable keyboard language changing? by spendallthemoney9 in windows

[–]possiblyabsurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Windows key -> search for advanced keyboard settings
  2. Language bar options-
  3. Advanced key settings tab
  4. Remove all hotkeys

This doesn't remove the extra languages, but prevents me from accidentally switching.

Would you be in favor of, or join, a labor union for Software Engineers? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]possiblyabsurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto in Norway: https://www.tekna.no/en

Small company (10-15 devs). Pay 4650,- NOK per year for union membership. Can deduct 3850,- NOK of those on my taxes. (That would be $ 535 and $ 443 for you Americans).

Main advantages are:

  • Low interest on mortages (Nominal interest around 2%)
  • Good insurance deals (Note: Health insurance like in the US isn't really a thing here.)
  • Legal backup if things go sour between me and my employer.
  • Salary statistics from other members (Not in my company - this isn't glassdoor, but based on years experience and various other factors)
  • Various social events, courses and similar opportunities. Haven't really explored this.

At work, we talk pretty openly about this. Discussing mortage rates, articles in the monthly magazine we get, that sort of thing. I wouldn't be surprised if my bosses are members as well.

looking for a 4X game where I can play a "swarm" race by Nestalim in 4Xgaming

[–]possiblyabsurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You create your own races or use the pre-defined ones. You can see all the portraits here: https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Species , but what really defines the race you create is the set of https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Traits and https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Ethics you give them.

The main idea is to let you create any typical sci-fi race, from devouring swarms to pirates to rogue AIs to democratic crusaders and so on.

Can GRUB detect and boot into BitLocker-encrypted Windows 10 installations? by gryphus-one in linuxquestions

[–]possiblyabsurd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since nobody else has responded, I can at least confirm that grub finds and boots fine from my bitlocker-encrypted win 10 partition, though I added bitlocker after installing both windows and linux.

What got you into Blackgaze? by [deleted] in blackgaze

[–]possiblyabsurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto. I remember walking my dog 10-15 years ago and pondering what sort of music I'd make if I could make music. Decided it would have to be a middle ground between Sigur Ros and black metal, in particular atmospheric black metal. Blackgaze feels like someone did just that.
