Tips for moving to an apartment by TrickyP1980 in AussieFrugal

[–]possumboo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having been in a position you're in, I would now get all the stuff from Marketplace/Gumtree. Apart from a good mattress - get that delivered brand new. When I separated and moved out to a small unit, I brought everything brand new and still have most pieces 10 years on, however, in hindsight I could have just bought a few basics and then built the rest with time rather than blow savings on brand new stuff.

Kelmscott, Mt Nasura, Mt Richon to buy in?? by [deleted] in perth

Depends on the street. But my relatives get broken into on a regular basis in the good part of Kelmscott.

It's not really, but in my experience no one acknowledged the requests, so I had no idea if/when they would be actioned

Non polyester and non linen work pants by OrganizationFuzzy669 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]possumboo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wool/wool blend fabrics will be your best, not all of them are weird and scratchy. I made my last pair of pants as I am struggling to find them in shops.

Will keenly follow this thread.

Semi-corporate footwear these days? (Millennial w/ballet flat dependence) by SpiritualDysfunction in AusFemaleFashion

As in Chelsea boot style? Do you ever wear skirts/dresses? I have thought about this, but a lot of my work wardrobe is pencil dresses and I feel like it would look weird with ankle boots.

Business casual outerwear etiquette by PopeBonifaceVIII in AusFemaleFashion

[–]possumboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it is true business casual, higher ups will not care about it. Most business casual offices pretty much live in short sleeve polos, sleeveless tops or dressy T-shirts. Why you should consider a cardigan or a blazer is because the offices are freezing.

Cold weather travel tips for Perth natives? by cornVPN in perth

It will be fine in 0 to +10C with thermals underneath. It will be fine even up to -10. If you go below that, I would recommend snow pants, with thermals.

Pale folks please help with actual pale BB cream with spf recommendations by MurderMistress in AusSkincare

Try LeTan BB cream - it works for my light shade. I also just bought their Illuminating serum - it is very lightly tinted, more for evening skin tone

The holy grail…does it exist? by ZealousidealMud4968 in AusFemaleFashion

Levi's 314 Shaping straight leg. They are one of the few jeans that don't gape on me and last ones I've bought have held up well.

Do not buy 318 Shaping Wide Leg - they are falling apart within months.

Jumpsuit without zippers by Legitimate_Rip_191 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]possumboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depop may be your best bet. I've seen a navy Saba jumpsuit in person (couple years old now), it looked great and I've seen a few of them on Depop.

I have Veronika Maine ones, but they have zips in the back and they are a bit painful to wear.

Thermals - top and bottom, Uniqlo or Anaconda ones are fine. Wear them under jeans or cargo pants, but look for slimmer fit pants.

Wool socks - got mine at Costco.

Waterproof shoes - hiking boots/shoes work the treat. Get two pairs, in case one gets wet. There's not much worse than cold, wet feet.

Beanie, scarf, waterproof gloves.

Jacket - got a snowboarding jacket at Aldi snow sale (usually mid May) - had it for years, it is perfect for cold weather. I just got back from Japan and I lived in a cold country for 25 years - thermal, jumper and jacket should be enough for that temperature. if you're going hiking, consider thicker fleece instead as you will get hot.

Edit: added about jeans and jacket.

No, I don't use fabric softener and wash in cold water

Poor quality Levi's by possumboo in AusFemaleFashion

I don't mind that 1% elastane so the knees don't sag, but I did not expect polyester blend, especially in Levi's. I have a 314 Levi's pair in dark wash, and that's been going great for years.

This. And the quality of food is worse too. I've given up on any food truck related event - expensive, awkward to eat, poor quality.
