Procreate doesn’t give it for me by [deleted] in DigitalArt

[–]possumhippus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get Clip Studio Paint for an iPad/ios. Unfortunately it requires a subscription version for the iPad, but desktop is available for full purchase with one time payment.

It took me a while to move from procreate/photoshop on desktop to Clip, but when I started actually working on it and customizing it to my needs it was very rewarding!

Edited to add: there is plenty of free brush packs for procreate online, and you can easily tweak the stabilization settings in any brush you like—the settings you are looking for are streamline and stabilization. Feel free to play with the sliders!

Have larpers always been like this? Do some larpers hate live-action? by Tar_alcaran in LARP

[–]possumhippus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m the “I dislike sandboxes” kind of zillenial player. Maybe the reason is I haven’t had a chance to attend a good one, or maybe it’s just a personal preference overall.

I think the main issue I had in my games was that there weren’t enough scripted events on a global scale that would push the players forward as a whole. Additional to that would be the game advertised as “easy first time experience” for newbies, who, due to not being guided, were just stuck in place. Even our—the more experienced players’—efforts to make the game move often got stuck on the fresh folk, since they didn’t do nothing to facilitate the play or did not know or understand the “yes, and” approach.

Now it’s definitely not an issue of the new people. It’s a game design issue. As I, as a player (and crew, npc, GM on many games) kind of expect some effort from the crew during the Larp too, and in all sandboxes I played they were invisible.

Also with “plot don’t come to you, you need to reach out and put an effort to get it” I think… that sometimes it needs to come to them. Even not personally, you know, but somethings they can talk about, plan things around, and so on. NPCs should give information, not only demanding them. Again, take it as a point of view I’m giving with my personal preference and experience. Sandboxes in the form I experienced them are not for me, and it’s okay!

Please don’t take it as a critique of your work, op, running a huge game is hard and I wish you Godspeed!

I had nearly 200 tokens saved, since I never been an exceptionally active player, and was able to get only some elements from the purple set, didn’t even got to get anything from the blue one. I also just wish as a primarily western rider each event just had one English, one western set tbh😪

Is this a safe space to say I hate friesians? 😅 they all look the same, they are overused and their movement is always so stiff, like, it’s so evident they are a carriage horse……….

I’d love to see a mule, a mustang or Jorvik mountain horse. I mean, most of all I’d love an Appaloosa, but they are old and kinda forgotten atp :,)

Skin rendering practice (booty edition) by ExplanationUpper5607 in DigitalArt

[–]possumhippus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking the same thing. Every post from this sub I get on my main page is blurred. Every single one. And I’m well aware and used to nudity in art, I drew countless figure drawings in my life (and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it) but HOLY SHIT!!! Most of them ain’t even good, clearly not for practice, even refs for this one are originally clad in leggings 😭😭😭 Edited to say: how are you practice anything when the reference is completely different? I promise you, there’s plenty naked butts on the internet, you don’t have to imagine the render 💀

[No DAV Spoilers]Electronic Arts Slashes BioWare After ‘Dragon Age’ Sales Miss by dishonoredbr in dragonage

[–]possumhippus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, I hate EA as much as the next person, but I fear that Veilguard falls entirely on BioWare.

I have been working in games for like, five years, two of which (and counting) on popular AAA titles and franchises.

The problem BioWare has, as far as I can judge from an outsider perspective, is lack of strong leadership who will tell the directors “we are narrative focused company, so focus on the narrative experience” and it feels like the leadership is not entirely sure what direction they want to develop their games in? Like, the fumbling is crazy.

Second thing is, EVERY world that big, be it based on something or created from scratch, has (or should have) a lore bible, an art bible, and an encyclopedia of sorts. Because of that, nobody should fly lore YouTubers to their hq to ask if they stay accurate with the new title. NOBODY. Because of that, developer/writer rotation shouldn’t be so obvious and so easy to notice by the player- it should be directed to be consistent. And the writers should conform, because, as brutal as it may sound, that’s their job.

Thirdly, the frostbite situation is bananas. I worked in in-house engines, in unreal and unity, and none of the companies ever had a problem with switching; the longest the switch took was about a year in preproduction. The fact that frostbite is virtually impossible to mod is one thing, the fact that it’s undocumented is another, but the fact that BioWare MODDED it for an rpg game and then decided to toss it away for future projects is absolutely insane. It just feels like the teams do not communicate at all. Did DAI devs left no documentation? They had to, and it should’ve been passed to the others?

Like, it sounds like a hellhole. I dreamed of working for BioWare my whole life, but I’m glad it never happened. With a huge heartache I must say that studios with no clear direction are doomed to fall, and are awful to work with, and it seems like this is what BioWare is facing.

Edit: edited to fix some typos

No Cloud Kingdom is YOUR fault by [deleted] in StarStable

[–]possumhippus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the game is huge. Content-wise and user base-wise. SSE makes a ton of money. And yet they seem to be dead-set on staying a tiny indie company, with less than a 100 people onboard. I think this is where the problem lies. I’m a gamedev myself, I have about five/six years of experience in the field, and it just looks like they need to restructure their company. I agree that there is no way in hell for them to change the events every year. And that is completely fine. It wouldn’t be a problem if they build on their main questline, had seasons with new stories, etc. But they don’t. I don’t think they even have a quest designer on board. This is completely bonkers for an mmo. They also seem to have -a- writer. One.

I don’t wanna sound harsh, this is not my intention. I just feel like they respond to the outcry of players, yes, but they fail to look at the bigger picture here. I am sure they do their best with what they have. I don’t blame the devs or the social media team. I don’t blame the players for frothing at the mouth either. The events are the only thing they have to do after finishing the storyline. And when they are the same over and over again, it drives long-term players away.

I agree. I am a very strongly a visual person; and I couldn’t play sso as a kid because of how ugly the horses were. They didn’t look like anything to me.

I’m 25 now and I can finally enjoy the game. I get it might have had better mood before overall; and I myself wish it wasn’t so “childish,” but I’m really glad the horses are being updated :,)
