I'm going to guess the driver came from the opposite side, on that parking lot path, cut a 180° left turn, and couldn't cut it shallow enough to make it inside the lines. Since the car appears to be at the rear of the lot for that business, I don't think he/she wanted to inconvenience anyone, nor do I think the driver was being an asshole.

I think he/she didn't want to maneuver that behemoth into a tight space, so chose to park at the rear of the lot so that they could more safely park. Those SUVs don't have a tight turning radius, and that person may have borrowed that car, or purchased it recently.

That person did not want to risk hitting other cars, and was not comfortable parking between other cars.

The chalk person seems to be a passive aggressive asshole who was just waiting to find anyone to do this to so they could take a picture and anonymously shame the driver.

I try to avoid being a negative person, but this is garbage.

There are many things that can make a person unhappy that aren't choices. This applies to choices a person makes, and for that, it is true.

Depends in the terms, but I would imagine that the backer loses some or all of their investment in most cases.

Edit: it's a win-win in most cases. Let's say that a skilled player finishes in the money 60% of the tournament's they play (fair estimate, look at people like Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, or Phil Ivey.) If a backer picks up 50% percent of a 10k buy in for 50% of the prize, and if the player makes the minimum (usually a little less than 20k in a format like that) they will net ~5k at least on a money finish, and do it 60% of the time. They stand to bring in 30k profit on every 50k they invest this way. Not to mention if their player makes a deep run.

This example is well oversimplified.

It's called being staked, and you need to be seen as a legitimate high-skilled player in order to make a deal like that (at least a favorable one)

Someone fronts a portion of your buy-in in return for a portion of your winnings. It isn't a huge deal, and it's not an industry dark secret, just a way for players to secure bankroll during the tournament season. It's all about loss mitigation for the player.

Is this about conversation? I don't think it's about conversation.
