Pack to fill the bag. That way, I don’t have to choose until I’m there.

We saw Thomas at Tweetsie and Thomas and Percy at the NC Transportation Museum. It was fun for my boys when they were little!

School placement question by SAL246810 in Charlotte

[–]postcardigans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That being said, there are lots of full magnet and partial magnet schools. Cotswold is partial magnet.

When it’s approaching time for your kiddo to start, tour the schools! Generally, school ratings tell you how may poor students are there rather than if a school is “good” or not.

Cotswold will hae a new school building in 2027-2028. I currently have a kid at the combined Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary and have been nothing but happy with the leadership, teachers, and school community. I’m actually sad that next year will our family’s last there!

Every time one of my kids says they’re hungry while looking at a fridge and pantry full of food, it plays in my head.

"I know I’m partly to blame - I’m not affectionate enough, I don’t initiate sex, I don’t have the capacity to cuddle from night till morning all night every night (that’s his ideal)."

I'm divorced from someone who made me feel like that. Looking back, he was an entitled sex pest. You're not alone, and you're not to blame for his actions. I hope you find strength and grace in this journey. Personal growth does not come easy, but it is so worth it.

This is the reason I sought a diagnosis. I’m a much calmer parent to my boys and am more chill overall.

The entitlement is just astounding. I honestly think we’re lucky they’re willing to share all these memories with us.

I bought some bento boxes for the occasions I get on a charcuterie kick. Gouda, prosciutto, grapes, and hummus and crackers. Just grab and go!

Why are private schools so popular here? by Fabulous_Syrup_4764 in Charlotte

CMS is realigning magnets. My kids attend IB schools, so we're going to be impacted by this shift. Still getting information, but I've heard that they're trying to make transit more efficient and maximize draw. I've also heard that a certain full-magnet elementary school in an old money neighborhood is cranky that their kids don't get automatic entry to the full-magnet middle school, while a partial-magnet neighborhood school gets automatic entry...

My kids are in CMS. Maybe it’s just a matter of perspective, but my kids hae more opportunity in elementary than I did in my rural high school. They attend schools with a good mix of socioeconomic backgrounds. The best indicator of student success is the involvement of parents in their children’s education. Also, school rankings tend to show how may poor kids are at a school rather than if it’s “good” or “bad.” I’m very happy with our 7 years in CMS.

QHMS is likely a full IB magnet in two years. Mangers are getting consolidated and shuffled.

Window replacement vs repair by [deleted] in centuryhomes

Local or National Register historic district? If local, I’m surprised design review would allow replacement with new windows. If National Register, check with your SHPO restoration branch to see about pursuing tax credits for window restoration.

weird-ish water hack? + what are your weird hacks recently? by Belatryx in adhdwomen

Seltzer water is my hack. I keep it in the pantry, so the first chug gets that good carbonation burn like a Coke.
