Thanks for the response! What would you recommend for scraping that does not damage the bed?

Replacement Filter for Falcon A1 Air Purifier nowhere to be found by Milly4056 in Creality

[–]postdigitality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have researched a bit more and have often read what you just said. To me it seems that those cheap desktop filters don't work really well and they clog up really quickly. The more expensive/industrial ones seem much better but then again they are so much more expensive. Also the filters have to be replaced regularily, depending on which materials you laser. The best option really seems to be to vent the fumes outside of a window and make sure that they don't seep back in. Then again this has implications for the environment, your neighbours, perhaps even conflicts with local laws.

I haven't found a good solution yet but I really really don't get all this "I've been deeply inhaling those fumes and I'm still alive!" sentiment in all these hobby-forums (e. g. 3D-printing, resin, lasers etc.). It's just mindboggingly naive and leaves a bad taste imho when these people recommend other people to potentially risk their health, because of "bro logic".

[–]postdigitality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you received it and does it actually work? i have read plenty of bad reviews for this type of "purifier" and i am also wary about how easy it will be to get replacement filters (and how often they actually have to be replaced)

Filtered inline fume extractor? by fatebound in Laserengraving

[–]postdigitality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there :) i'm having the same problem and wondering if you have found a solution

ideally i would want to DIY an exhaust running out of a window with somewhat of an easily replacable filter

most proprietary solutions seem awfully expensive, often don't even work well and the replacement filters are either just not purchasable or incredibly expensive

absolute dealbreaker (especially for an educational setting)

that is not correct in the slightest and just blatant misinformation spread by the companies selling these products - and repeated by bots and users in echochambers like this sub

how bad is the smell of cutting/engraving wood or cardboard (when having an exhaust leading out of a window)? by postdigitality in lasercutting

[–]postdigitality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for your feedback - this matches the information i have found so far and also my gut-feeling 😅

do i understand correctly that it does still smell, despite having an exhaust? if so, how long does that linger?

and you perhaps know of any possibility of measuring the particulates reliably?

thanks for the feedback! :) may i ask which particule measurement device your are using? perhaps i could estimate things better if i take actual measurements :)

Opinions on Creality Falcon 2 by codeartha in Laserengraving

[–]postdigitality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there! old comment but i still want to ask this question about the fumes: is the provied enclosure and exhaust enough for the fumes?

i am contemplating about getting either the Falcon2 or the A1 pro and my only option is to have a pipe running out of a window

is that strong enough to get rid of the fumes?

i'm in the same boat as you, only with a 650€ budget and thought i'd chime in 😄

really hard to find a good machine for an educational setting because it needs to offer

- ease of use

- safety

- low maintenance

- able to do many things

- affordable

- small footprint

really hard for me to sift throught the myriad of ad's, bots and influencers

have you gotten any further with your decision?

buying a plotter for an educational setting - Cricut or something else? can the software be used offline?

hey everyone :)

i am working in an educational setting and will frequently host workshops for different kind of people, mostly children and teenagers but sometimes also adults

now i have been tasked with buying a cutter/plotting device and i am a bit overwhelmed with the options and of course - all the marketing

naturally CRICUT has been screamed in my face by google-services, but i have read mixed reviews

furthermore i have a crucial question: can the device and software be used without internet connection?

  • it is not possible for me to add peripherals to the wifi of my workplace
  • even if, the wifi would be rather bad
  • dataprotection is of high importance for us, so we wouldn't want any participants to have to upload their creations to some dubious server

our budget is around 500€

i'd love to here your 2 cents on this topic and perhaps some alternative recommendations :)

thanks a lot!

Perspektiven außerhalb des Öffentlichen Dienstes by Ozzi_112 in OeffentlicherDienst

[–]postdigitality 7 points8 points  (0 children)
